Okay, never mind Death of the Inhumans, this is the spookiest thing I'll see all October.

I'm convinced this is just B.R.O.D.O.K. messing with their minds, because that kiss seemed to come out of nowhere.

With her mind, at least. You don't really need to mess with Quentin's mind, just point it towards something and wait for it to come to the worst possible choice on its own.

He literally starts convincing himself in the middle of the Reality TV bit that Gwen's apparent insanity might be something to admire.

Too goofy. I'm interested in the team and the series but it's kinda over the top, not balancing the dynamics, fun and drama bits right.

huh.... this looks fun... also... why is it that I am always drawn to the "I HATE YOU/LETS MAKE OUT" trope.... in some it's kinda skeevy.... but when done like this... it's HILARIOUS... like... I mean i know there are some instances where animosity is used as a mask for attraction.... or rather, we are attracted to people who challenge us. Quentin is this (well depends on his characterization here) who prides himself on knowing more than most people. he's used to being the smartest person in the room a Pool, is by definition, unknowable. conversely, Gwen is the definition of a free spirit, and for all his rebelliousness, Quentin is still a stuffy know it all... they clash, but they also have chemistry...

I'm enjoying this.

I had reservations about the two kissing that way, but the recoil from the others turned me around on it.

Why would a hi tech bad guy group like this be keeping physical files? Wouldn't the plot have made more sense if they had tracked down an employee and used Quenton to get a password out of their head or something?

And why is Hip Hole Hawkeye upset that Real Hawkeye is using an explosive arrow on the file cabinet? What was her plan to get them open? Or is the default for these characters is to always bitch and complain at each other?

Can either of them open the lock any other way? That takes 1) skill in picking locks and 2) lock picks. What Clint does have is 1) skill in shooting arrows and 2) an arrow that can blow up locks.

Kate has lock picking skills. and can we not call her, Hip Hole Hawkeye and just call her Kate, or Hawkate.

No.....I think I like calling her Hip Hole Hawkeye. In fact, I know I like calling her Hip Hole Hawkeye. I might sometimes call her HHH for short, although that might confuse some wrestling fans. Maybe Hihoha...

For the record, I'm not going to call Kate Hip Hole Hawkeye or any version of that. Doing so would be a dick move deliberately used to annoy people and I'm trying hard not to be That Guy. I don't always succeed but if I don't want people being a dick to me I should try my best to not be a dick to others.

So if my being an immature jerk irked you, apologies.

Considering your name and icon, I always thought the 'Kate' in your name came from Kate Bishop.

That...actually is not too far fetched a conclusion, based on my handle and the icon I use.

The Kate in question is singer/song writer Kate Bush, the image is from a pic used on the cover of a 45 single for the song Under The Ivy.

Yes, a 45 single. I'm that old.

Classy. Kate is just as "real" a Hawkeye as Clint.

Did I say she wasn't? I was just differentiating her from the other Hawkeye. If Jill doesn't want me noticing the hip holes she shouldn't be making fun of them herself.

You differentiated them as Hip Hole Hawkeye and Real Hawkeye, which implies you see one as less of a Hawkeye than the other.

You're right, I did, didn't I? That was a mistake; Clint Barton hasn't been the real Hawkeye ever since Jill Thompson started writing him.

Do you mean Kelly Thompson? Jill Thompson did Sandman and Scary Godmother.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I'd argue they're both just as much real Hawkeyes as the other. Is Miles Morales a fake Spider-Man, or are Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson fake Captain Americas, or Scott Lang a fake Ant-Man, or is Sam Alexander any less of a Nova than Richard Rider, or are Robbie Reyes or Alejandra or Danny Ketch fake Ghost Riders?

You're right, I meant Kelly Thompson. Apologies. And yes, I'm legit sorry; it's hard to tell whether or not somebody is being sarcastic online if you don't know them personally.

Those are good points in regards to other people adopting the names of other heroes. I guess the reason why it feels different with the Hawkeyes is how Clint is written, namely he feels like a pathetic joke of his former self. Look at the last issue of Thompson's run on Hawkeye; he doesn't seem to be very heroic at all. This is a guy who has this amazing pedigree; he's traveled through time and space, been Giant Man once, led super hero teams. I can't reconcile that Hawkeeye with the one Thompson writes.

And then there was the statement that Hip Hole Hawkeye is a better archer than him. Again, this is a guy with more than a decade's worth of practical experience as a combat archer, not just a trick shooter. It's a bit like when Jane Foster became Thor; they had to emasculate the original Thor (i.e. cut off his arm, make him unworthy, reveal that he had cheated on Jane so it seemed he deserved everything that happened to him) and then have the hammer do things for her that it had never done for him, making her an even more wow-special bestest Thor.

So I can buy Bucky or Sam or any of the other guys you mentioned being as much the heroes whose names they share or have supplanted, but Kate Bishop is always going to be Hip Hole Hawkeye to me.

That's fair.

I'd argue the point of "emasculating" Thor was less to prop up Jane Foster and more the classic trope of falling down so you can get back up again, and the Hammer doing things for her that that wouldn't do for regular Thor was to differentiate the latter from the former a bit more (like how Miles Morales can use his blasts and camouflage or how Silk can shoot and create constructs out of webbing from her fingertips, even though they all practically have the same origin story as Peter Parker).

M.O.D.O.K. was never the most sensible person around despite his vast intellect. There likely aren't any other employee apart from B.R.O.D.O.K., either.

There were less destructive or wasteful ways to open the lock than an explosive arrow. I got the impression they weren't complaining and moaning at each other so much as indulging in good-natured teasing, as is what can sometimes happen amongst close friends.

Or it's bad writing, because I know the plot dictates they bring the files back home, Brodok finds the files, then resummons Tigra as well as a bunch of other giants.

If there aren't any other employees why do the two scamper away when the alarm goes off? The fact that there is an alarm implies a fully staffed facility, otherwise all you'd need is some silent radio alarm that only Brodock could hear. If Kate can pick locks why doesn't Hawkeye let her? He's literally blown the lock, now there's physical evidence of their being there.

Just because the comic is being deliberately written in a manner that is supposed to be funny doesn't mean that there can't be some logic involved. Hawkguy is an experienced hero, Bishop a private eye, yet they seem like a pair of morons here.
