As mentioned above, The Meek focuses on a variety of characters, each with their own narratives and stories that take the spotlight from time to time. This particular extract focuses on Angora, an eccentric young girl with an affinity for nature who has lost and subsequently gone to look for her 'Grandfather', whom she believes she can find in the "Centre" (wherever that may be). After a scrape with some bandits, she finds a safe place to sleep and dreams of the last time she saw him.

She tackles things that would be schlocky or sensationalist in the hands of a lesser writer with compassion and sensitivity. But she doesn't let that stop her writing from being raw and painful. She's also a ridiculously good artist.

But iirc it's also implied that she originally was being raised normally in society and at some point left the orphanage she was at to go into the wilderness, but that it's been so long she's forgotten things? I don't quite recall.
