I wonder why Terra II isn't mentioned and Gar just assumes it's the original. And yes, Robert Long was a toddler when he died, not a baby.

Meanwhile, Black Lantern!Hawk takes on Holly and Dawn.




I'm really disappointed we didn't get to see Black Lantern!Terry Long. Hopefully he shows up next issue.

Yeah, Terry would have been hilarious, and like, J'onn, if they'd played it that way, could have been really horrifying and tragic, but Robert just seems... crass. Especially de-aging him like that for maximum angsty impact, or WTFever.

I wonder if we can we arrange a trade, so the Black Lanterns keep the messily retconned in Holly, Dawn's "Half sister I somehow never mentioned to anyone, even in internal monologues during in my time working with Hank" and we get Hank BACK?

Oh, and Robert being a toddler rather than a baby, well

A) Donna was out of his life by then, so her memories of him would be more likley to be as a baby than a toddler and thus this will have greater impact,

B) The baby being able to say "Mommy" rather than "Ma" or "Mama" suggests it's a bit older

C) It's the Byrne run, better to ignore odd details like that, it's not like he appeared to give a crap about the characters.

D) Hank died as Extant, not Hawk, and yet here he is as Hawk as a Black Lantern, so I'm guessing they have a lot of leeway about the appearance they use.

Follow Hawk 1's throw. That makes no visual sense. First he's got one on each arm. Then he appears to throw one into the other. Then somehow one's on one side of the room when they should at the least be piled atop each other.

And that's not even bringing into it Dove's feckless and hardly intensive body language till the end. She looks like she's trying to open a jar, and looks like she's asleep when she smacks into Hawk. That's pretty bad.

And the topping on the turd sundae? "NOOOOOOO!"

Also, I'm thinking that Ed Benes just does not understand how shorts work. If they're up your ass that much, there's no way that the front is connected to the back. And, just one more nitpick, but the way Donna's sleeping in that 3rd panel there looks quite uncomfortable.

Looking at these pages I'm thinking Benes has little idea how anything works. I haven't seen much of his work but I'd heard he was good. Except a habit of drawing every woman like Jessica Biel. But that fight scene? I insist: it don't make no visual sense. (and in most cases I gloss over fight scenes, but this stuck out)

Explained in the recent Terra miniseries. The second Terra is a Strata (an underground society based out of an alien's spacesuit) citizen who was altered based on the genetic template of the first Terra.

Maybe I remember him back when (his Supergirl and early BoP run) but Benes wasn't always this bad. I really can't tell if that's Donna or Lois(from his run on Superman) or Zatanna (from his run on JLA).

I've assumed this since Tempest bit it but if Gar dies you know there's going to be whole lot of resurrections - no way Geoff Johns or Krul kill off Beast Boy (Donna's died before).

I'm guessing the Black Lanterns can come in whatever form they want. After all, technically Firestorm shouldn't even have a body since Ronnie blew up.

Any guesses if Terra II will ever be brought up? She died a hero and yet the one Gar is still hung up on the one who died cursing the Titans with her last breath?

I'm actually starting to get nervous about the hoped for rezzes. Gar HASN'T died here and Geoff said that it wasn't going to be as simple as the rainbow power of the White light whatever. There's some people who've criticized the idea, but I was really looking forward to a happy ending for once. :(

I'm still not buying the baby Black Lantern. Unlike the other Black Lanterns shown on the cover, he didn't have a Black Lantern uniform.
