Even Crossed has bright moments in it. Er, at least, with the original Ennis stuff, and the Alan Moore/Si Spurrier stuff. Or at least, grey-ish moments?
Granted there’s a lot of stuff I haven’t read. It just felt like from the history79 posts or from what I’ve read on my own that a lot of it was just an exercise in cruelty. Although I’m mainly thinking about the Lapham ones like Psychopath.
Lapham's stuff was just the worst. Reading that stuff really soured me on him as a creator. He was really exorcising some demons out in that work, but it just made the content itself irredeemable.
Si is a bit of a neurotic writer, but having a narcissistic, selfish protagonist in Wish You Were Here made for a lovely, slow build-up of Consequences. IMO, Crossed is at its best when the core of the story is deeply moral, and the worst people get their comeuppance. Sink seems to be following in that direction too, when it's not just a nightmare carnival of things that crazy-laugh in the night.

Yeah... I'm the last one to make assumptions on people who write horrific stuff but reading that felt like he had some serious issues lol.
I guess I'll add I thought Christos Gage's Smokey was fairly interesting in developing the concept of an 'evolved' Cross who is able to plan ahead and having actual goals. And from what I've seen I think the +100 series had some interesting ideas.
I really have no idea how to interpret this series, but issues 3 and 4 seem a lot better than 1 and 2, to me. Still not really my thing, but this strikes me as an actual story, rather than just an exercise in shock violence.
