"In addition to my love of pro wrestling, the other major factor in the development of this story is my obsession with William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. I’m a fan of Shakespeare in general, but Macbeth is a story I’ve devoured in numerous incarnations. Akira Kurosawa’s Throne of Blood is one of my all-time favorite films. I’ve wanted to do my own spin on Macbeth for almost as long as I’ve wanted to do a wrestling story, and it was a mighty flash of inspiration to dovetail the two together! As a result, Macbeth is a major touchstone for that vibe of the sinister supernatural encroaching on the very human themes of desire and ambition." -- John Lees

“Pieces of Silver is a showcase for one of my all-time favourite villains, not just in Batman, but in all of fiction. I've been a fan of Two-Face going back near 30 years, since I was a kid, so it was a blast getting to make a comic showing a little bit of my take on him. Colin has pointed out an emerging theme in these stories of it being what happens when Batman isn't around to save the day, how in this city, with these villains, what could have been a superhero story very quickly becomes horror. And now that he has said that, I can definitely see that trend, and it's something I could certainly enjoy exploring further in future.” — John Lees

"And Then Emily Was Gone is a horror series that begins with a former police detective called Greg Hellinger. Back in the day, he was famed for cracking some seemingly unsolvable missing persons cases, but five years ago he had what most believe to have been a mental breakdown, and ever since, he's been tormented by horrific apparitions of monsters that follow him around wherever he goes. He's pulled from his life of despair and squalor by a teenage girl called Fiona, who has tracked down Hellinger in hopes of him using his particular skill-set to track down her missing best friend, Emily.
The official story is that Emily ran away from home, but Fiona is convinced that a local child-snatching boogeyman by the name of Bonnie Shaw has taken her. Hellinger agrees to help Fiona, and their search takes them to the Orkney islands, and the remote community of Merksay, where strange and terrible things start to happen!" -- John Lees
