I'm intrigued by the logistics of allowing Matt Murdock to serve his prison sentence as Daredevil without revealing his identity. How would you make sure the right guy surrendered himself to serve the sentence? Presumably he'd be placed in some sort of segregated wing, but either he'd have to be afforded an unusual amount of privacy to bathe and do laundry, or that mask is going to be really ripe by the time they let him out.

Shouldn't he be in the vault, one of the super villain jails, or in a military prison?

.....on one hand this is really dumb for logistical reasons. On the other hand meta humans actually do time/suffering civil liability for their mistakes without openly revealing their civilian identities opens up some really interesting story ideas.

Is he in Gen Pop? In the scans above he appears to be located in an otherwise empty cell block- though that doesn't seem practical for a two year sentence. NYC jails aren't exactly known for having a lot spare room not going to any use.

As for security- well, I suppose that whoever is in charge of these decisions might have reasoned that Daredevil, having turned himself in and pled guilty, was not at a high risk of flight (and so far they'd be right- here he is, refusing to flee), but in their place I'd also be worried about attempts on his life. Elektra may be a double badass sneaky ninja, but if she got to Daredevil's cell, there's a decent chance that organized crime in NY could find someone else capable of doing so- with a gun or a bomb rather than a job offer.

Also, I'm not clear at the moment as to whether the public understands Daredevil to be a superhuman, or simply a highly trained acrobat and martial artist. Do you have to have a power to get sent to the Vault (or the Raft or the Big House or the Cube or what have you?) or is just putting on a colorful mask before you do crimes enough?

Final thought- if this prison is in New York, it seems like there's a decent chance that Wilson Fisk, either as mayor or as the man-behind-the-kingpin, controls it.

Also, as you say, most may not be aware of DD's super-human status. Whenever someone figures out he's Matt Murdock, they logically jump to "he's faking being blind" rather than having super-senses to compensate.

That's how it usually goes between them. It was even one of the reasons why his men tried to assassinate him.

They did it way back in the "Trial of the Flash" storyline and I think "Astro City" has a bit where a Supreme Court ruling made it okay for costumed crimefighters to not have to unmask in such situations. It is an interesting idea to play on as sure Marvel has their legal loopholes on such things.

I'm still wondering why no one notices "Matt" is off. I assume the people in this court know him pretty well and Mike doesn't come across as a great actor.

Matt Murdock isn't just some guy. He's been the legal representation for several major figures lIke the F4. He's held political office. Heck, he's been mayor. He seems like a great target to be replaced by an LMD or a Skrull or whatever.

Oh yeah, I've always been confused on the timeline there. Was that taking place while Matt was already *in* prison, in the Devil in Cell Block D storyline?

I think so. They reference him being in jail during New Avengers.

And then it was... Iron Fist wearing the suit, right? Nice of him to go method on the Daredevil act and throw in some heavy-handed Christian symbolism.

It was Iron Fist. Supposedly there was going to be a line or two where Tony Stark says he knows Danny Rand is subbing for Matt. But when it comes to CIVIL WAR, I am not sure what was supposed to happen vs. what would have improved things in retrospect. (Example: Instead of a clone, Thor was supposed to be Thor with Don Blake's mind and personality in charge.)

Im having a hard time focusing on the plot, because of my bewilderment and amusement of elektras hair. On a unrelated note/question, maybe some of you more knowledgeable comic readers can answer a question I've been curious about. Whom would you say Kingpin hates more? Spiderman or DD?

Definitely Daredevil. Spider-Man isn’t that much of a bother to him most of the time.

I always saw the rivalry with DD as more personal.

Having to sometimes deal with Spider-Man is just the cost of being a criminal in NYC.
