In Memoriam: Richard Corben
Dec. 10th, 2020 05:30 pm
It was reported today that artist Richard Corben passed away last week following heart surgery. He was eighty years old. To celebrate his career I've decided to share a Hellboy story he illustrated.
This is from Hellboy: Double Feature of Evil #1.
In 1960, Hellboy travels to Kansas to meet with Mr. Sullivan. Sullivan explains that he was a drunk until a stranger appeared and gave him the deed to a house. He moved there and learned that by putting a person in a certain room, the house would kill the person and pay him gold.

Date: 2020-12-11 09:18 pm (UTC)Shit....I can't believe he's no longer with us....
Also this is a cool horror story concept
I like the idea of Evil Locations
Like...not a house that's haunted but a house that's just Generally Malevolent
Like in Silent Hill where you have the concept of a town where it's the location itself that is messed up or The Haunting of Hill House or even just the forest from Blair Witch. That's creepier than a haunting to me because ghosts are just people who have passed away but the idea that there's just something wrong with a place is very weird and inhuman and that makes it scarier I think

Date: 2020-12-12 12:06 am (UTC)If your a ghost you know there's life after death so if you have the power to kill someone you know they are just gonna live forever as a ghost as well.... I'd imagine being a ghost would make you pretty chill about things
I think most ghosts would just be like Annie from Being Human they just want to watch Antiques Roadshow and have a cup of tea
