Slightly disheveled Cyborg doesn't do much for me sadly, Aquaman looks proper anime and Flash gives off major Hank Venture vibes, esp under the mask. Batman with two sets of ears is certainly a look, but I dig the armor.

Highlights for me on the design front are Green Lantern (which I cannot place, but I swear I have seen before?) and  nice boy Superman looks just proper (and is super helpful in the preview pages shown on the site).

And I just love Wonder Woman? Her whole design is just balanced from head to toe - while I like Green Lantern for example, her design is a bit too top heavy for me - Superman and Flash are really simple, so not too distracting in any part, while Batman, Cyborg and Aquaman have just stuff everywhere.


I don't know enough about RWBY to see if the characters are their own in the pages on icv2, so my main focus was the look of it, which was a winner.

Faunus are like that, if their animal feature is ears. It's WEIRD, but it helped Blake pass as human for most of the first season. Aquaman also seems to be a shark Faunus, or perhaps ray. Definitely some sort of cartilaginous fish, from the shape of those fins.

Oh my gosh, does this mean Blake is Catwoman? Does Batman train with the White Fang in lieu of the League of Assassin’s?

... he hasn't been shown to have any association with them, but that's something that might come up in the next set of issues. As for Blake as Selina, why you wanna break Yang's heart like that?

Unless in this setting there are lots of blue-eyed, black haired young men with scars over their left eyebrow running around...

I mean, the ears are also kind of a dead giveaway. But he’s got a mask, so I guess he’s disguised?

That Jessica Cruz/GL sketch is giving me serious Tandy Bowen/Dagger vibes with the way the symbol around the eye and the piled hair are used.

So, like, is the ring going to be Jessica’s Semblance or is that a weapon to channel said Semblance like Velvet’s camera? What would Vic think of Penny? Who’d be stronger, Yang or Clark? Who’s faster, Ruby or Flash (speaking of which, is this Barry or Wally?)? I don’t think we’ve ever seen privileged Faunus outside of Blake’s parents, so is Bruce still gonna be super rich and influential? How well would his usual methods work since that seems like prime fodder to attract Grimm? Considering Batman usually doesn't have superpowers, what kind of Semblance does he have? Detective-ing? Is that just the Justice League getting the RWBY treatment or will they be fighting DC villains, too? Who’d win in a fight, Krypto or Zwei? There’s only about four or five Kingdoms officially, so where does that leave Diana and Aquaman? I know that’s WAY too early in the timeline, but how does Diana’s truthiness stack up to Robyn’s truthiness? Speaking of which, Batman and Robyn anyone?

Gah, I know this is all pretty fanfiction-y, but that’s so weird and kinda cool to see.

Bruce lost his parents as per usual, and at this point, his family still has money, but nothing near the Schnees and such. Plus, being a faunus in Atlas isn't pleasant. His sembleance is very much detective vision, seeing patterns, connections and weak points.
Diana is from a lost/hidden faunus colony that calls itself Birds of Paradise Island, and they've found enough of the lost magics from the first age of humanity to give Diana her classic 'forged from clay' origin.
Jess and Arthur have been hinted at with a 'lost astronaut' and issues with sea shipping.
As for DC villains... there's some very odd grimm in the first issue...

First four digital issues are up on comixolgy. It's pretty fun. Teenage versions of the Justice League would normally be weird, but they bond pretty well with team RWBY. Bruce, Clark and Diana have all shown up so far, and Jess and Arthur have been hinted at. The first three are all surprisingly close to their usual origin stories, just filtered for the fantasy setting as opposed to a superhero one.

Okay, so it just hit me that student teams are normally four members and I count seven. Assuming the JL are a combined team like RWBY+JNPR, who is number eight? Is this another Pyrrha situation?

They're not students, nor do they seem to be forming a student team

But they did introduce Jesse Quick in the Flash issue.
