Golly I sure do miss those good old days before gay people and sexual freedom and basic human rights

Things sure were simple 'nuff back in that golden age when women just had to stay home and keep our pretty little heads empty of anything but what time to start cooking dinner for our man and certain folk had to drink from different water fountains than the rest of us

I mean the context indicates that he's talking about his own life before Jason Blossom was killed. A time when he still hung out with Kevin who was hooking up with random guys in the woods

Okay but in the context of this being a story about the Riverdale series crossing over with the comic it's impossible to not see this as the writer going "The characters of Riverdale desperately wish they could get back to that Simple Americana"

While he wasn’t hooking up with Moose nor do I believe they ever showed him hooking up with people in the woods, Kevin Keller has still been an established part of that Americana for a decade now

I think the meta is about characters wishing Riverdale were not a gritty young drama but still a silly comic...

Yes, but the Riverdale in the meta is the explicitly pro-queer silly comic that gave Kevin Keller multiple comics of his own of the past decade.

I'm pretty sure the Archie comics were still pretty simple when they introduced Kevin Keller.

There was a good mini-series where the 1970s Battlestar Galactica met the 2000s BSG show (yes, the male Starbuck briefly hits on "himself") for a fun read.

Now, I totally want some sort of bit of the CW Nancy Drew meeting the "classic" version or even the one from the '80s books who takes a while to realize "wait...the ghosts are REAL?!"

I want to see a "all the Tom Swifts" team up, including the first few as introduced in the original series, the one with a spaceship from the '80s, and now the CW version (gay black billionaire, who would be a drastic contrast to the earlier Toms)

I will say that the modern CW version certainly would have some issues with the original book Tom Swift, especially if he's mistaken for Eradicate...

I love the Archie weird crossovers, I really do. Still waiting for my Archie meets Count Duckula though.

It's crazy. Sock hops are like, what, the '50s? That would be around 70 years ago. I wasn't even a fan of the '50s growing up when they were only 30-40 years ago. The equivalent for me at their age would be before TV was invented.

Not to say I haven't grown fond of certain aspects of the past as I've gotten older, but it just kind of boggles my mind to imagine teenagers in this day and age doing anything that retro that doesn't involve horses.

Then again, growing up, I was always more into futuristic and high-tech stuff, so maybe I'm just the odd one out.

Everybody in classic Riverdale sits around talking to each other in the cafeteria.

Everybody in dark Riverdale looks at their phones.

I mean I only see 2-4 cell phones including Veronica’s (some of them might be coffee cups) and a laptop in tv Riverdale. Everyone else seems to be talking to eachother, including the two maybe-cellphone holders

And IIRC, the laptop is specifically because Jughead writes a blog narrating the events of the series.
