Oh Odessa is definitely enjoying that view

And thinking that that is an ass

That is crying out to be spanked

Our story begins with Felicia's mentor the Black Fox in a tight spot

Now normally a DILF in a pair of handcuffs and a woman in a tight dress telling him how powerless he is can be a recipe for a fun night but in this case its bad news

Odessa is out for blood

She wants the Black Fox dead

The two look back on the Thieves Guilds history and we get a fun little cameo here

Candra!

As a 90's X-men fan I enjoted this nod to her part in the lore

We also learn that Odessa's father found and made a pact with another entity, the Gilded Saint.

I'm sure that won't be important to the arc plot later, honest

Totally just a little divergence that we shouldn't trouble our minds with

We also learn just why Odessa hates the Black Fox so damn much

We never do learn if Odessa is right or if the Fox is telling the truth here for sure

Tho

Later events make me think that its entirely possible Odessa is correct and the Fox really did murder her father and then just lied right to Odessa and Felicia's face about it

Minor spoilers for how this arc pans out but the Fox is really not a good person. He's not just a thief he's a bastard in general

Bastard or not tho he guesses the real thing that Odessa is so worked up about

FELICIA

The ultimate control freak has fallen for the ultimate woman who can't be controlled

Felicia drives her crazy

Sexually and also in general

Felicia comes to the Fox's rescue

"You want me on a collar and a leash"

"How did you find that fanfiction, I posted it under an alias"

I love their dynamic here

Felicia is everything Odessa thinks she shouldn't want but also everything she actually does

She adores her

And she's infuriated by her

And despite this conflicting mess of emotions and despite the fact that Felicia is her enemy right now she still warns her not to trust this bastard

Sadly she's rigt

The Fox is every bit as bad as she thinks

Tho we won't see that play out till later in the story arc

Felicia leaves with the Fox and Odessa lets her go but gives a warning

This now means war between Felicia and the Thieves guild

Setting the stage

For the next half of this arc!

Stay tuned!

This series continues to look ever more impressive and intelligent. Jed MacKay has a bright future, I'm thinking.

As for that cover, J. Scott Campbell has certainly found a niche, and by golly, he's sticking to it.

Black Fox wouldn't murder anyone. He's a terrible person, but there are areas he won't sink to...if he's written consistently. Fox is a thief through and through. He's barely armed.

Yeah, that's been kinda his thing. He's a dick, in many ways, but he won't kill anyone. (directly, at least, though I could see him fucking with people in a way that causes them to die)

If one casts New York down to hell, do you think anyone is really going to notice?

Yeah, she might be.

I know I've said this before, but I love Jed MacKay's work. I read his Daughters of the Dragon recently and that was just as good. I also, twigged who some of the characters were in the most recent issue of his Moon Knight. I just love deep cuts!

There are some writers whose work on a character is so definitive to that character, that almost everyone's elses takes fade by comparison.

Walt Simonson on Thor, John Byrne on She-Hulk, Frank Miller on Daredevil, etc.

And I think Jed MacKay is the same as far as Felicia is concerned. He just really gets her. More than anyone else I'd say.
