Generation Hope #12 - "Half As Bright"

Generation Hope – probably one of my least remembered things, which strikes me as fair – it only landed properly as we inched towards the end of the year. The plot was basically “Is Hope Good Or Bad?” when the answer was “Her Dad died a few days before the issue started. She’s fucked up.” Only in mainstream death-happy superhero comics would that work as a twist. -- Kieron Gillen

I'd say the reason Generation Hope is not well remembered is that Schism slapped the status quo is relied upon pretty hard. The 'Hope discovering new mutants' angle was dropped quickly, and then it floundered.

Wow, they did Idie dirty after this. Poor kid really needed therapy but instead they continued to pile on the trauma and then dumped her into the pit when they didn't like the result.

So was Laurie ever confirmed to be one of Apocalypse's descendants? The family resemblance is pretty obvious.

Oh, Hope. Just be because people tell you you're the messiah, it doesn't mean you need to let the obvious Judas hang around.

When you're trying to shoot someone that can control you by talking it's generally considered a good idea to shoot before they start monologuing. But who am I to teach people how to murder. It's not like I came up with it.

True story: in "The Good, The Bad And The Ugly", Eli Wallach came up with the line "If you're going to shoot, don't talk. Just shoot" on the fly and was confused when the crew turned off the cameras and started laughing, because he thought it was genuinely good advice.

So, that bit about serving pieces of himself and then admitting to it... is he saying he did it, or not?

I think its a "just kidding...or AM I?"

(But I assume he did because he strikes me as that kind of weirdo)

My take is he's not ruling out serving people Kenjiburgers unless they really tick him off.

What disturbs me is that after learning how Teon's power works... it's clearly in play here, as he tells the "pack leader" exactly what she needs to hear to keep functioning as pack leader for his own comfort/benefit/convenience/stability.

Also, maybe it's just me but he looks a bit like Cable in that last panel
