Shang Chi probably shouldn't have been surprised the British government took something that didn't belong to them.

This is a little like Batman telling Lex Luthor "You can have the Presidency or the Kryptonite Ring, not both." Batman and Superman did a "Kansas City Shuffle" to get the ring away from President Luthor. (Which worked because Superman can briefly hold off Kryptonite affecting him if he knows it is coming.)

Shang-Chi isn't Lex Luthor. Not YET, anyway.

Don't you just hate it when your old friends visit you just to manipulate you with an old enemy's robo-controlled corpse because they don't trust you?

Does seem like this series, and the preceding one, are running fully on the premise of everyone Shang-Chi knows being judgemental asses towards him.
And then almost certainly acting like he's a villain when he finally loses his temper at them for being wads.
