Hawkeye at Halloween

Well, it's that time of year, and we'll soon be getting a live-action Kate Bishop, so here's the best Halloween costume ever!

So, Death's Head (2019) was just Young Avengers, huh?

I do like the Young Avengers. I do. The world can always use more Kate Bishop, yes? But rather than having the team guest-star in Death's Head's miniseries, it was more like the reverse, huh?

It's not a bad series, even if DH's voice seems 'off' to me (even leaving aside the inexplicable faded yellow colour of his speech balloons) - the term 'Freelance Peacekeeping Agent doesn't even show up 'til issue 3!

But I digress.

I put up stuff from issue 1 last year, so here's stuff from the remaining three issues. Empyre is coming soon, and this is where Billy and Teddy (and breakout new character BILLY'S GODDAMN FINGERNAILS) were prior to that:

Keeping up with the Jones part 1

Post-Secret Wars, my Marvel list has dropped down to Power man and Iron Fist (Cancelled), Hulk, Thor, Gwenpool and Hawkeye. They're all really good books, offering a different take on life in the Marvel world, and with strong authorial voices. New York based Private Investigator Jessica Jones has dropped by on LA based Private Investigator (but don't ask to see her licence) Kate Bishop.

Jess is on a case that links up with a skeevy guy Kate has been keeping tabs on. The trail takes them to a party where getting in isn't as easy as you might want.
Getting in to parties the Kate Bishop Way )
If, like Kate and Jessica, you think that shooting arrows would solve problems, but, unlike Kate and Jessica, you're in Great Britain and have nothing to do from the 16th to 18th of June, why not take part in Archery Big Weekend? There is almost certainly a club nearby that will be putting on a fun event for beginners.

The world according to Hawkeye

Fact: One of the best series that came out in 2016 was Chelsea Cain's Mockingbird
There were a lot of good things about Mockingbird. For one, the structure of the first story. If readers read #1 first and #5 last, it didn't matter what order they read #2, #3 and #4. That's new for me and a bit exciting. The story was also told from Bobbi's point of view, so that readers were not presented with a literal and accurate reflection of what happened, but a version of the truth that was filtered by Bobbi's own perceptions, much like what Fraction and Aja's Hawkeye run did with Clint.
Fact: One of the best series that came out in 2014 was Matt Fraction and Annie Wu's Hawkeye. Not just because of the elegant one page story that appeared in #20. And not just because the Brian Wilson story was captivating and heartbreaking and is probably my favourite single issue story.. And not even because they put in that meme about the girl who started a house fire. It's quick, fun and surprisingly emotional storytelling.
News: After two issues, it looks like Kelly Thompson has managed to combine the good bits from both of those books in her new Hawkeye series.

Ultimate Comics Spider-Man: Spider-Man No More

So here we are with the conclusion of Miles' first title. After this there was the three-issue Cataclysm tie-in and then 'Miles Morales Spider-Man' before leading into 'Secret War' in which Miles moved to 616 (or whatever Marvel wants us to call it.)  This is a good drop-off point as any but if people want me to continue I will.

Astonishing Ant-Man #6

"That issue will have its own feel. It will feel like you're reading Cassie's book for 20 pages. That was fun for me to come in and do something entirely different while still moving our bigger story forward." - Nick Spencer
