This year's Loki #3 has weapons retrieval and acquisition.

The retrieval's on a Kree planet, Kava - the weapon's another piece of Loki's broken boat Naglfar.

The God of Stories, having retrieved one piece in Nidavellir, went to Kava for the second with his friends-from-Young-Avengers-times Hulkling and Wiccan in tow - he'd requested their help, since Kava was part of the Kree/Skrull Alliance.

The three of them were on the planet, in the midst of a festival that abominated a coward and revered a blessing. The coward was Ko-Mir, a hero of the Kree-Skrull War who'd seemingly broken and fled one day - and the blessing was a " private sun " that'd given warmth to the formerly cold Kava, a " migrating gas ball " trapped in the planet's orbit sometime after the slaughter the Skrulls'd visited on a Ko-Mir-less Kava.

Loki knew that the coward and the sun were connected to each other - and to the Naglfar piece. )

X-Men: The Trial of Magneto #4: "Verdigris"

"I strive for both authenticity and evolution at the same time when I do character-work, because I'm someone who's been profoundly impacted by serialized storytelling and falling in love with fictional characters. I, like many enthusiastic cape comics readers, have a sense for when changes that feel inauthentic, un-researched, or done simply for shock value. But for the same reason–this is exactly why I love finding ways to surprise and delight fans of a character. Making a complex character like Emma Frost resonate with both long-time and brand-new readers is like completing the most difficult obstacle course. It's exhilarating! And it always feels like I'm simply sharing with readers what I love about a character, too—but doing so along with sharing what only I can see in the far distance."

The Last Annihilation: Wiccan & Hulkling #1: "Entangled"

"When I was a kid, I couldn’t believe what was happening when I was buying those comics — I truly believed I was making it up, that it was wishful thinking. Two scions of pillars of the Marvel Universe — the sons of Scarlet Witch and Captain Marvel themselves! An heir to two empires, and to the Avengers legacy! — built into the heart of its stories, and unabashedly in love. So fully three-dimensional, with so much chemistry and affection. It was magic. It still is." -- Anthony Oliveira

So, Death's Head (2019) was just Young Avengers, huh?

I do like the Young Avengers. I do. The world can always use more Kate Bishop, yes? But rather than having the team guest-star in Death's Head's miniseries, it was more like the reverse, huh?

It's not a bad series, even if DH's voice seems 'off' to me (even leaving aside the inexplicable faded yellow colour of his speech balloons) - the term 'Freelance Peacekeeping Agent doesn't even show up 'til issue 3!

But I digress.

I put up stuff from issue 1 last year, so here's stuff from the remaining three issues. Empyre is coming soon, and this is where Billy and Teddy (and breakout new character BILLY'S GODDAMN FINGERNAILS) were prior to that:

Fan Art Thursday - Saturday edition - Nick Robles

My last post was about Dick Grayson in his new TV Titans costume, but what about... the opposite! :)

This is sort of NSFW-ish... in the sense you might NOT want to open it up if your boss is looking over your shoulder (or maybe you might, you might have a very understanding and/or horny boss... and not in the unpleasant inference of that phrase) but it's beefcake rather than porn.

Art courtesy of Nick Robles, the artist on the current Doctor Mirage series, which looks AMAZING!

He flies through the air with the greatest of ease! )

Fan Art Thursday - Sunday edition

It's been too long since I did one of these, but this is an example that was too much fun not to share, as I had the pleasure of sort of starting something! :) (plus it makes a nice showcase of an artist I like)

Luciano Vecchio is a professional Argentinian artist whose work on Ironheart has been deeply appealling.

He has a somewhat cartoony style which isn't too common these days (shades of Alan Davis perhaps?), and with a complete lack of fear of actually making comics look brightly coloured.

So when he opened up single-figure commissions, you can imagine who I might have wanted him to have a go at! :) (Yeah, not Robin, though it was tempting... as was a Saint Seiya character (which is still big in Argentina) maybe another time!)

Instead I went for my favourite selfsoulfriends, and bot am I glad I did!

And then it sort of snowballed... or maybe Cannonballed would be a better term :) )

Avengers Assemble Annual (2013) #001

Hey guys been a looooong time since I've posted or browsed here. So glad to see some familiar faces still around, I missed you guys.

Anyway the Avengers 2 movie made me morbidly curious as to how Vision (and Wanda for that matter) was holding up in 616, if at all. There's a shit ton about what Wanda's been up to, but barely anything about Vision during all this time so, glad I found this issue.
First issue of the 2013 annual was focusing on Vision, and at least remembering that you know, he's alive now, and who he was before.

(Forgive me if my choice of scans or the sizes are odd, I haven't done this in a while)

Seasons greetings to all from Icon_UK

Now scans_daily welcomes those of all religious persuasions, or no religious persuasion at all, and long may it continue to do so.

And whilst appreciating that there are those for whom this day is not particularly special, or whose religious celebrations occur at other times of the year, I hope no one will be offended if I post a couple of Christmas themed special pieces.

So who is on the Naughty List? )
