Originally just a death post, but I ended up adding the events that led up to her death. So, yeah, this post is a bit on the long side.

psion-x.livejournal.com requested a half-remembered, 20-year-old New Teen Titans scene featuring Dick breaking free of brainwashing via the power of Kory's love. I believe I've found it here. 3 pages from a 23-page story.

Push the button, Frank. )

Icon-UK posted on scans_daily 2.0 the iconic "How many licks to the center of a tootsie ro--" wait, no, that's not it... I'm thinking of something else.

Ahem.

...."How many ways can a Robin die?" Icon_uk did a fantastic job, and I will not trample on such a wonderful post. I will resurrect previous posting on behalf of Dead Week.
While not officially a true death, I hoped to end this week on a light note and with the theme scans_daily loves the most.... Dick Grayson in bondage.

At least he is creative..... )

In IRON MAN #267-268, John Byrne did a little tweaking to Iron Man's origin. It's still set in Southeast Asia, but the Vietnam War is over. It also turns out Wong Chu answers to someone else. Guess who. Go on, guess.

I somehow am not surprised. )

I'm going to start slowly reposting the western comics I put up at 1.0, with some additions. What do my fellow western readers want most?

Streets of Glory
Apache Skies
Loveless
The Lone Ranger
Scalped
Blaze of Glory

I've scanned large portions of all of these, and would be willing to (slowly) post excerpts if there's interest.

Now to business, six pages from the first issue of the Apache Skies miniseries. Not plotty, but a sequence I love.

"DC ENTERTAINMENT IS DEVELOPING A LIVE ACTION BLUE BEETLE TV SHOW! :)"

BLUE BEETLE NEWS from DCE!! We have a live-action test of Jaime Reyes' scarab activating his suit. It. Is. Awesome

If I can break it out of the vault, I'll bring it to SDCC. LIVE ACTION BLUE BEETLE!!

Blue Beetle's going to appear in most of the Brave and the Bold's this year and we're hoping to develop a live-action show. Fingers crossed!

When asked for a comment, Jaime Reyes of El Paso, Texas declared himself

Hopefully they don't screw this one up... KEEP his family and friends as his support network that's for damned sure. Not grimdark, but not a pure sitcom. etc etc

Issue #30 of Age of Bronze is on sale this Wednesday. CBR has a preview up.

Helen is pregnant by Paris and so she is being sent away from Troy to Dardanus for the duration of the war to bear their child in safety. Meanwhile, Pandarus continues his scheming -- for some time now, he's been maneuvering his niece, Cressida, toward Troilus, youngest son of King Priam, who is completely lovesick for her, and who's been lead by Pandarus to believe that Cressida's affections are greater than they are. Cressida herself is in a vulnerable position, as her father defected from Troy to join Agamemnon and the the Achaeans, leaving his daughter under suspicion of treachery.

I've been laboring for you like a pack animal -- why would I stop now? )

The entire story so far is summarized here, along with additional preview pages for each issue.

I was pondering what to post for Death Week after the "Death of Cypher" post... I did consider reposting the "How Many Ways Can a Robin Die", but it's already in the archives and then [personal profile] sherkahn posted a link to it anyway (Thanks for that by the way). I have no desire to post "A Death in the Family" as I loathe the story, and what kind of a story would it be about killing a kid in cold blood, and then that concept struck a chord.

Now as luck would have it, I recently purchased "The Robin Archives Volume 2", which collects Robins sort-of-solo stories from "Star Spangled Comics" from the late 1940's. It's a wonderful, cracktacular volume which I can thoroughly recommend to any fans of Mr Graysons early career or just genera Golden Age nuttiness..

Case in point, we have, from July 1949, Star Spangled Comics 94 where the first page features a villain who has clearly forseen the concept of www.eviloverlord.com

Not terribly inventive, but effective. )

4 pages from a 12 page story.

series: death week, char: robin/nightwing/dick grayson, char: batman/bruce wayne ,creator: jim mooney (The credits for these stories are a little ropey, but it's a good bet this is Jim Mooney's work.

OMG YOU GUYS. I have just finished reading a book. It is a book called The True Meaning of Smekday. It is a book which was recommended to me by this nice lady, and this webcomic. I read these and thought, wow, this sounds like an okay book! I shall sign it out from the library!

Friends, I am here to tell you that the internet LIED. This is NOT an okay book. This is THE GREATEST BOOK EVER IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD OF EVER OH MY GOD. I should not have gotten it from the library. I should have progressed immediately to the nearest bookstore and ordered FIVE COPIES.

Until I can do so, I distract myself by sharing the joy with you.

Posting the other half of Nomad, my favorite four-issue standalone.

I think one of the reasons I love it so much is because while, in a sense, it's your standard gritty revenge fare, in another it's so totally not.  It's about redemption, in a way.

Lycan said men are not driven by altruism. I'll prove him wrong. )

Darca's apparently in another comic, but having read up on his role and what happened to him, I'm leery about tracking it down.
