It turns out Guy’s yellow ring absorbs Green Lantern energy.

Those little aliens that got Guy in this mess are the Gardners of the Universe. They noticed the increased demand for intergalactic security firms and tried to recruit Guy Gardner to their cause. He agreed, but only on the condition that they called themselves the Gardners of the Universe.
