The Chinatown Deathcloud Peril? I love that book! ^^ Also woot, Pat Savage. I hope that she does something cool, I heard that she tends to get into the way in the actual stories. Kinda puzzled by the anachronistic SWAT team guys though.

Aw, don't go beating on the Blackhawks. :( Also, cool cover. And for the record, again, this is a version of the 1940s Batman who used guns, and in the preview issue showed that he hasn't actually killed anyone with them.
JUSTICE LEAGUE: THE RISE OF ARSENAL #3

Question: Why was it necessary to remove his shirt?
ZATANNA #1

On sale MAY 19 * 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US
Written by PAUL DINI * Art by STEPHANE ROUX & KARL STORY * Cover by STEPHANE ROUX

At last - the Mistress of Magic in her own ongoing series! Zatanna Zatara has long made her home in San Francisco, but right under her nose a sinister threat has developed - a crime boss who dominates the criminal underworld with the dark powers of the magical underworld! The terrifying Brother Night is making his play for San Fran, and the police force - including hunky detective Dale Colton - turn to Zee for help. But Brother Night is a whole new kind of criminal and if Zatanna thinks she can backwards-talk him down, then she's in over her top-hatted head! Superstar writer Paul Dini (BATMAN: MAD LOVE) is paired with the gorgeous art of Stephane Roux (BIRDS OF PREY), making his anticipated DC debut on interior art! There's only one thing to say - T'NOD SSIM TI!
Retailers please note: This issue will ship with two covers. See the Previews Order Form for more information.
Huh, so now Zatanna is sharing a city with the Teen Titans and Jack Knight, and in a different universe, the women about middleaged women with magic powers. Clammed I think it was called.

Date: 2010-02-19 01:29 am (UTC)Dare I hope that means ongoing? (Probably...real question is whether I should get my hopes up about them lasting more than 10 issues...)

Date: 2010-02-19 06:12 am (UTC)Although - I have to say it because it bear repeating - with the May solicits out we are now 5 months into 2010 and still no sign of Miss Cassandra Cain, aka the girl Didio promised there were "big plans" for this year. Especially with the return of Bruce in full swing by May, the absence of Cass from the Bat-clan from that story is glaring. If they aren't going to do anything with her and make her into the Bat-version of Linda Danvers/Supergirl, they should just say so at this point.
Then again we also have an event called "Brightest Day" going on and DC's historically most "bright" characters (in terms of lightness) the Marvel Family doesn't seem to playing any part (meanwhile Deathstroke's villain team of Titans is being marketed as a Brightest Day title? WTF?). A wasted opportunity IMO.
I wonder with Geoff Johns in charge of creative at DC now if there will be any changes (it was Geoff after all who by all accounts wanted to return Billy and Mary Batson back to their old roles in the JSA arc with Black Adam/Isis and was vetoed by Didio and it was Geoff who ret-conned Beechan's Evil Cass with the whole Slade brainwashing drugs thing). Or it could be Didio is still calling the editorial shots just with a different title. I hope not.

Date: 2010-02-19 05:42 pm (UTC)The possibility of a Marvel Family relaunch still seems plausible. DC did mention Post-Blackest Night 'plans' for the Marvels and the "Brightest Day" event will be spanning a couple of months and has dropped hints of relaunching titles, such as Aquaman's.
Though I do understand where you are coming from. I don't have much faith in DC's handling of certain characters either...
