Here is the Preview at The Source

I think it's just the pill popping and with the bottle and everything but I was totally reminded of House. *shrugs* And on this page the art doesn't look that bad, but in the rest of the preview... :/

Why do I always feel like writers only know how to rehash Titan storylines: Dick's Batman but Not Really
Raven is Evil but Gets Better
Donna is Special than She Not
Roy is Angry turns to Drugs
Vic is Inhuman but he has a Soul
Kory well the only plots around her are silly arranged alien marriages (twice right) and On-Again Off-Again is Dick.

I know some Titans are in the JLA now but I still feel like they stopped growing right after Teen Titans Vol 2 & Young Justice. It's like with the Goodie by Oldies still being around and Youngblood Upstarts at their heels, they just have no proper place in DCU.

Speaking of Dick, I still don't get why he isn't helping a brother out with the location of that Lazarus Pit most recently used by Kathy Kane. What possible objection to using it for Lian would not have applied equally to Kathy and (what he thought was) Bruce?

Because successful comic-book heroes each symbolize a certain aggregation of ideas (e.g., "How far can a man without superpowers drive himself in pursuit of justice, and how much does that cost him?").

At least that's the argument about the superhero genre in Douglas Wolk's Reading Comics.

Is it just me, or does Roy seem reminiscent of Guile from Street Fighter (just in the way he's drawn; it's not a perfect match, but it's a decent palette swap.)

How many times and in how many ways are they going to show Lian dying? Or his arm being ripped off? What is the point in this? What was the point of killing off a kid? To make her Daddy a pill-popping cyborg version of the Punisher? This is character development? Ugh.

"Poor Roy"?

Question. Did anyone in the *world* expect this storyline to do anything other than suck?

To be fair, we don't know what this storyline actually is. Granted, that's because all we've seen so far is "Roy's lost his arm, daughter and recovery from drugs", but it's still possible (albeit, only remotely possible) that this story doesn't develop the way most of the audience thinks it will.

I don't like this art. I will pick this up only to see the interaction between Cheshire and Roy over Lian. And then Roy and I are separating for awhile.

Given Cheshire's chilling, but plausible "I don't care what happens to Lian, I got pregnant by Catman so I could have a spare child", I can't see any confrontation she'll have with Roy being particularly sincere.

Is it wrong that I actually would have been okay if Lian, Star City, and Roy's Arm got sucked into a black hole rather than what happened?

Speaking as someone who's lost a child, you can expect the pain to last a very, very long time and hurt like hell. And running away from it, into denial, drugs, or whatever, only makes it last longer and hurt worse. The quickest way through it (though it never goes away completely) is to surrender to it.

Is the artist for the first few pages of the preview different than the one whose page is shown above? Lian kind of has the crazy-eyes going; I guess she's supposed to be terrified, but I'd expect a kid to have the same expression riding on a roller coaster.

In the preview, where it says ABYSS, it cuts off the A so it looks like someone misspelled BYESIES. That robbed it of some drama for me.

Thanks for the sympathy, but the point I was trying to make is that while I would really, really prefer that creators NOT kill children, if they do go down that route, it realisticaly should hurt for a very long time. That's one thing I think they got right with Avengers Disassembled (where the repressed pain came back with a vengance) and got extremely wrong with Torchwood: Children of Earth (where the deed was forgotten ten minutes after it happened.)

Yeah, but "Children of Earth" was epic fail on at least a dozen levels. At least.

Reading that preview makes me want to cry so hard. It hurts.

In a certain way, it's a very cruel kind of re-hashing for people who have lost someone. A fictional reminder that everyone's life is expendable and pointless and you can never get anyone back.

Jesus. This is comics. Hero comics at that. I don't need that shit.

Stoppit.

I dealt with this preview far way better than I did with RoA#2, and you know why..?
Roy's "I should have been the one to take the life of my daughter's killer!!!" kinda put me off. It's a bit of a cliché, even if understandable, and I disagree with the idea in general.

The rendition of his pain, otherwise, the nightmares and such, that was appropriate to the situation.
