What happened to Parallax?

As you may remember, Hal Jordan freed and rejoined with Parallax during Blackest Night in order to help defeat the Black Lantern Spectre. The two were separated again, but Parallax vanished without explanation... until now.



You'll note that this plan by the hooded villain does not include capturing the Black Hand or the Entity.

Ethan admits that he lifted the designs for most of the logos from pre-existing sources and then added a circle so they would be "lanterns."

The Red Lantern symbol is lifted from the chest design of the Manhunters.

The Sinestro Corps symbol came from the chest design of Parallax.

The Blue Lantern symbol was a modified Sinestro Corp symbol turned upside down.

The Star Sapphire symbol was the old Star Sapphire symbol with a circle put in the middle.

The only original designs are the Agent Orange and Indigo Tribe symbols.

I didn't mention the Violet lanterns for a reason, I know where their logo comes from.

Manhunters didn't have a chest design, they had a pattern on their torso, but I don't think it''s actually THAT similar to the Red Lantern logo.

The Yellow Lantern was designed at the same time as the decision to make Parallax anything to do with the Yellow Lanterns, so saying it's new is sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I'm repeating what Ethan Van Sciver has said about the symbol designs. The idea was to avoid creating anything new and use what already existed.

So the Parallax design was not made with the Sinestro Corps logo in mind. He just saw the chest design and decided to use it for the Corps.

And he explicitly states the Red Lantern, Black Lantern, and Star Sapphire symbols are the ones he dislikes the most because all he did with the Red Lanterns and Star Sapphires was add dots and he didn't think the Black Lantern symbol followed the lantern motif.
