lego_jokerI admit that I've only read a fraction of Alan Moore's vast library of work (having just purchased the V for Vendetta TPB yesterday), and pretty much none of his seminal Swamp Thing run. I did, however, stumble on this little scene from Swamp Thing #53, and while it's not romance in the traditional sense... well, I don't think Moore would ever want to celebrate Valentine's Day in a less off-kilter way.
Remember, kids. St. Valentine's beheading is meant to be celebrated by couples of all kinds (except the abusive ones). Don't forget that, lest Moore's beard pull you down into the darkest depths of Hell.

Honey & Honey is an autobiographical manga by Sachiko Takeuchi, which, among other things, follows her relationship with her girlfriend, Masako. I find them a truly adorable couple, so...I R Share. >_>

I really like the Zatanna/Bruce dynamic, and it doesn't get enough love, so here's a very bittersweet moment.
Bruce and Clark were trapped in a dream world by Doctor Destiny, and they've finally broken free to reality.

Valentine's Day 2015: Chocolate Kiss Kiss

Valentine's Day, for instance, has been imported from the West, but the rituals around it have grown very specific. Only girls give gifts on Valentine's Day, and that gift is almost never anything but chocolate. They give simple store-bought 'obligation' chocolates to any boy they'd consider a friend, and those aren't considered to mean much at all. But for that special someone, they're supposed to go to more effort -- buying fancy, expensive chocolates, or for the ultimate touch, making something at home from scratch.
Boys are expected to return the favor exactly one month later. March 14 is a holiday known as 'White Day,' when boys give white chocolate to any girl who gave them chocolate on Valentine's, and maybe fully begin a relationship with one. (You will be unsurprised to learn that White Day was invented entirely by the Japanese candy industry.)
Nowadays, though, there's a growing awareness of people who don't fit the mold -- especially in anime and manga. What do non-straight couples do on Valentine's Day? Some authors have answered that question, sometimes even drawing on their own personal experience...

icon_ukNow that's a big claim I admit, and I expect arguments, but whilst we have the likes of Scott and Barda Free, and Midnight and Apollo, and even Ralph and Sue Dibny...
But though those are all fantastic couples, there is one couple which has been together longer, and in multiple media, than any of those.
