In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like. Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.
Hurricane Dorian has caused widespread devastation in the Bahamas, where it has presently stalled, though it might still hit the East Coast of the US this week. So if there's the slightest chance of it affecting you, stay safe and look after each other!
Boston's "Straight Pride" event took place and went just about as well as you might expect it to have done, with a couple of hundred guys, a handful of women and a hell of a lot more LGBTQA protestors.
Elsewhere this week we have seen a parade of corrupt, power-hungry, would-be despots striding around, ordering those they view as lesser beings to do as they are told or face dire consequences, whilst rebellion foments.
So, am I talking about the political scene in, well any number of countries (though the UK is a particular focus for me for obvious reasons), or am I talking about "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance"? You decide...
Actually, I'd much rather talk about "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance" because everything else is depressing, and dear Lord above was that a freaking awesome series!? I don't really binge watch things, I'm from an era where that wasn't the norm and it feels weird, but I had to consciously control myself to stop myself watching all ten hours of this magnificent production in one go!
The scale of it all; the puppets, the voices, the incredible world-building, honouring the classic movie, but adding new depths to it. It went dark, it went werird, but there were also elements of just sublime silliness that you know Jim Henson would have loved (A scene about the morning routine of an individual Podling or the true history of Thra being expounded to our heroes in the form of... well, I'm not spoiling that revelation, or even
this promo video). Apparenly season 2 has been approved and I, for one, can't wait!
Young Justice has now finished Season 3, with some impressive twists and turns in it's finale. With a daring, admirable, decision to NOT follow a classic storyline and instead have someone ELSE go rogue, and not someone I'd have expected. There's a hint at the end of a probably even MORE populated cast for Season 4 and given how many characters have had to be sidelined for the sake of a coherently focussed narrative, that might be someone to wonder about the wisdom of, but we'll see.
Apparently new Miraculous Ladybug episodes drop this week (and or next) and we have
a trailer for the long awaited kwami swap story"> (which will also apparently see the proper in order debut of Mayura as a regular villain).
Also a new Duck Tales episode is due today; "Whatever Happened to Donald Duck?", so there's that to look forward to too.
