In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like.

Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.

The intent of these posts is to chat and have some fun and, sure, vent a little as required. Reasoned debate is fine, as always, but if you have to ask if something is going over the line, think carefully before posting please.

Normal board rules about conduct and behaviour still apply, of course.

It's been suggested that, if discussing spoilers for recent media events, it might be advisable to consider using the rot13 method to prevent other members seeing spoilers in passing.

The world situation is the world situation. If you're following the news, you know it as much as I do, if you're not, then there are better sources than me.

I will note that the UK Government excels yet again as between blatant Islamaphobia on the Right and anti-Semitism on the Left, they're managing to paralyse any approaching actually DOING anything about a call for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Sweden is now clear to join NATO, after 200 years of political neutrality.

At the other end of the scale, whilst a part of me is of course very sorry for the disappointed children and families, there's a certain malevolent part of me that laughed out loud when I saw the photos from a "Willy Wonka Experience" in Glasgow.

The live action "Avatar: the Last Airbender" arrived on Netflix and personally, whilst it looks perfectly cromulent, and the actors invovled are giving it their absolute all, I'm still not sure that this adds anything to the story that needed to be added. Oh well.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch also dropped the first three episode of it's last season.

Meet Danionella Cerebrun, the 12mm fish which can make 140 decibels of noise!

So, one of the current Mod Team's illustrious predecessors [personal profile] stubbleupdate posted on Saturday to commemorate the weekend when Scans_Daily 1.0 went offline from livejournal, for reasons elaborated on there (a top notch read)

Being a cock-eyed (and boy could that be misconstrued as a term... or possibly, given it's me, construed) optimist, I was more focussing about the first time we were reborn, phoenix-like, as Scans_Daily 2.0 on InsaneJournal (before our eventual migration to Dreamwidth) and that was on 27th February 2009. The flurry of notes and e-mails which alerted people that scans_daily wasn't dead, it had just been pining for the fjords for a few days.

Thanks to some sterling archiving work at the time, we still have access to a great many of those posts, though in some cases they have outlived the photo-hosting sites which were in use in those dim and distant days.

I'd suggest having a trawl through the 2009 archive and see what sort of things were going on then. Who knows, it might inspire you to make your onw first post, or your tenth, or three hundredth!

It was, as others have noted, a busier time, and we have seen shifts and changes since then.

For all that, we have endured, we've seen members come and go, we've been through world events I don't think anyone would have even guessed at back then (for better or worse) and we're still are... and I'd better stop before this becomes a Sondheim number. (Though it remains a shame that the scans_daily take on Boom-de-yada seems lost to the aether)

Scans_Daily remains, at it's core, the strange and slightly eccentric website that welcomed me in something like 2006, and for that I remain grateful.

So, from the current Mod Team and, by extension, our predecessors, our thanks to everyone who has helped make this place what it was and is: Cheers to the Posters, the Commenters, the Lurkers and the former Mods. Those who have just arrived and those who have been here all along!

Here's to the next 15 years and love to all!

"It's honestly quite vibes-based at this point. I do have this tendency to use the metatext of these characters that’s built up over 60 years as a kind of subtext of their fictional lives, and there's something in the way they both evolved from their initial characterizations to something more complex and multi-faceted at roughly the same time, under the same writer, maybe more than any other X-character barring Wolverine."
