Yes, same as Nightwing was raped by Tarantula and Dick Grayson was Mind-Raped by Raven and Thor was raped by Lorelei. There's been plenty of instances of women raping men in comics.
Can anyone think of another genre where men are raped by women or threatened with rape by women with anywhere near the frequency of superhero comics? I wonder why that is.
Maybe some of the old-timey pulp stuff that superheroes were influenced by, and of course no doubt there's a porn niche for that.
Superhero comics have nothing good to say about approaching rape as storylines. Identity Crisis is one blatant example of it, and so is the rather horrible example of homophobia from the Hulk comics posted a while back.
"For a long time, [DC] said [Son of the Demon] was out of continuity. Now it's just kind of out of continuity. I didn't actually read it before I started writing this. I messed up a lot of details, like Batman wasn't drugged when he was having sex with Talia and it didn't take place in the desert. I was relying on shaky memories. But now we have this new "Superboy punch" continuity [after Superboy Prime attacked the fabric of the universe during Infinite Crisis]. People still don't realize how important that single punch was to cover everyone's ass."
Originally? No.
Son of the Demon is not in continuity now, only fragments of what Morrison wanted and changed are. So in this continuity? Yes. He admits the retconned history of her raping him (or Batman accusing her of raping him) comes about from his lack of knowledge of the character/previous story he was trying to grab at to create Damian, but it's still official as of now.
So Morrison just flat out admitted that he couldn't be bothered to research the story he was referencing. I guess it's nice that he at least admitted it.
As I remember, Morrison was using Batman & Son to bring Son of the Demon back into continuity...but he messed up on the plot. One of Morrison's few mis-fires with his run, IMO.
I will say this, though--the way he calls it a "eugenics experiment" makes me think that he wasn't sexually taken advantage of, but more that they extracted a DNA sample. It's also possible that he's talking about a different event, possibly Ra's led--she's going on about one of the good times they had, and Bruce's reply feels more like, "Yeah, that was a LONG time ago, and there are more bad memories than good now."
Well, she says, "Believe me, you cooperated... magnificently." It's hard for me to read that as anything but drugged and taken advantage of. Just saying.
If you think about it, doesn't Poison Ivy also do something similar in the sense that she seduces people and makes them sexually aroused against their will? A guy depicted as having those powers and using them against women would be received a bit differently ...
Though Ivy really has been misanthropist for so long that she hasn't really actually done any seduction that I can remember in quite a while.
Raven's emotional manipulation was always a bit iffy to me. And the Greek Gods have basically done some serious screwed up stuff to Donna Troy (Coeus and Hyperion), and Diana too.
DC is full of ~gray areas~ when it comes to this stuff, or at least, it's depicted as grey when it's ... kind of not.
How shaky does your memory have to be to confuse Bruce and Talia getting married and having a kid with Talia raping Bruce and having a kid?
Also, do editors even bother to read what Grant Morrison writes, or do they just say "screw it, he's weird" and put it into print? Because there was also that time when he was writing New X-Men and got Sebastian Shaw's power wrong...
Honestly, I remember it as something similar...not exactly rape, but Batman was not fully in control of his faculties at the time. And I thought I recalled it being that Ra's al Ghul was the one who had drugged Batman and a love-blinded Talia just went with it.
That's not what happened, of course. The 'marriage' however, is kind of a contrivance. I think what Morrison did is conflate an earlier appearance with Batman being kidnapped and (iirc) drugged (and propositioned by Talia, when R'as 'married' them), which is referenced in 'Son of the Demon'. So I'm not sure it's so much failed to remember as mixed the two together and got a different result.
I remember the child reveal in Starman. That scene is still one of my favourites, when she gives him the child after the whole...confrontation with her Father. The ending of Starman is just my absolute fave.
Have there been any recent fail retcons to make the rape of Ollie by Shado look more consensual? I thought I read somewhere that that happened.
rape or no (and originally, it wasn't), I'll say what I said last time that first image was posted. I find it hilarious that he's naked with only the cowl on.

An interesting example of patriarchy biting men in the ass:

Or the old LSH bad guy Apollo (and conversely, the old LSH bad girl, Charma)
