An announcement about Flashpoint Fridays, in which DC will release details about the storyline every Friday up until the debut of the story! All I know so far is that it involves the Fl... *Zzzzz* *Snort* Sorry, all mention of Barry Allen makes be fall asleep.

Anyways, link,
http://dcu.blog.dccomics.com/2011/01/14/headline-welcome-to-flashpoint-fridays/

Teaser of the storyline, apparently it involves mysterious forces changing the past and remaking the world. You know, like they attempted to do in the current Wonder Woman run, only people were more interested in the fact that she now wore trousers?

And thus, another summer event centred around another of Geoff Johns' personality-less white folk dawns, huzzah!

If I had ever thought about giving a crap about the return of St Barry Allen, this would just have killed it stone dead.

OMG! But... Barry Allen Flash is like, so important! How can you not worship the very ground he zips across?

(yeah, I'm sick and tired of this "Sanctified Silver Age" crap, too)

The last time that I was interested in the DCU at large, rather than some smaller titles (Power Girl, Supergirl, Secret Six) was the month after 52 ended and they did nothing to build on the pots of goodwill that I had for them.

There doesn't seem to be much 'prevent war' going on if an armored WW is standing in front of a burning Big Ben!

A Themyscira/Atlantis alliance would be quite fearsome...

I was tempted to give pass on Blackest Night because it so heavily involved Hal who's ressurection I opposed on principle. This is significantly worse.

Yes, let's give Geoff Johns a time machine and access to the DCU, that'll be awesome!

Ugh.

Every month, it gets easier to put off going to the comic shop in favor of buying more Trio and K'nex off eBay.

I for one welcome our continuity-futzing overlords. I suppose I should be snarky to blend in with these replies: remember the episode of Super-Friends where the villains went to the past and messed with the heroes' origins? For example, Lex Luthor yelled "Hal Jordan! Look out!" so Hal would leave the jet cockpit and Luthor gets tapped by the ring instead.

Lex Luthor isn't fearless. In many ways, he's defined by his fears.

It's Aquaman's I believe.

One of the things that PAD's Aquaman revamp mentioned was that that's never been an A on Aquaman's belt, since he's a representative of Atlantis, his outfit has an Atlantean letterl on it, in his case a "gutteral chaa" though I have no idea what it stands for.)

I like Geoff Johns. And I don't hate Barry Allen. I do like the character but I will forever question the point of his return. Green Lantern Rebirth I liked. I was for it, although I'm more of a Kyle fan than I am Hal Jordan, but still. This... I will say this 1,000 times over. Barry Allen should've stayed dead. There was 0 reason for him to return. It wasn't needed. It really wasn't. His legacy is a well loved respected one and I just feel like it lost its value.

"And thus, another summer event centred around another of Geoff Johns' personality-less white folk dawns, huzzah!"

...I'm going to be real here--I actually like Johns' Barry more than I liked Wally outside of the cartoon or some of the JLA. I admit there's a lot of Wally stuff that I probably haven't picked up on, but honestly, Barry's story right now is more interesting to me than almost everything I've read where he isn't involved with the Justice League.

On the upside, this probably means that Blackest Night might actually end at some point, rather than going on and on pointlessly, like a dinner party in hell with all your most unpleasant relatives.
On the downside, it looks like Johns wants to through an equally torturous and meandering birthday party for all the smelly kids who ate worms in elementary school immediately after.

I think I'll just stay at home and read... you know, an actual book.

Uh...Blackest Night has been pretty much over. The story of Black Lanterns trying to destroy all life has ended, and they clearly lost. Right now the story is about the Entity, and the destinies that the twelve people that were resurrected are, and how they're linked to the search for the new holder of the Entity of Life.

I just hope Diana's own title is still stuck in its JMS!world nonsense by the time this crossoever kicks in. Oooh, and that we get a Donna or Cassie one-shot at the same time that completely ignores both and... oh, uses white-pantsuit-Diana and references her boyfriend Tresser. If I'm going to have to watch a trainwreck, I want that trainwreck to be fucking huge. This series of smaller minor track-jumps in succession is all well and good, but at some point you need to give up the foreplay and go for the climax, you know?

No wonder all DC's latest variant covers have white background, with only the characters & their symbols left. It must be related to this Flashpoint event & the changed/erased pasts.

This new event as the follow up event after Brightest day is actually making me really curious & interested to see how things will develop next.

I'm curious to see the relation of this event and its effect to Max's mind-wiped world situation and the whole time stream problems in Booster Gold....

I refuse to read the Barry Allen Flash purely on principle. Geoff Johns and Dan DiDio selfishly overwrote decades of continuity and took away a character everybody grew up reading purely so that they could revive their old Silver Age fantasies. Let the middle-aged nostalgic fanboys read Barry's adventures to their hearts' content till they vanish and sales dip.

Then let's toss it aside on the basis of the content, which looks like another of the 'Time-travelling supervillains change history' plotlines that we've seen like half a dozen times in various DC titles this past decade. The most recent one I recall is Superman/Batman.
