If you ever wonder what inspires creators to take up the more commercial end of the comic writing business (eg toy-hawking lines)... apart from a need to pay rent and put food on the table like the rest of us... well, I suspect it's because every now and again something comes along which makes it ALL worthwhile!
In retrospect this is so obvious that the only surprise is that it took them until issue 14 to fit it in!

Date: 2011-12-12 09:11 pm (UTC)Generally though even the creators have problems; Simon Furman has commented on the difficulty of writing consistently for Transformers, when every year meant that old characters had to make way for new ones, and as Mainframe, the creators of the "Beast Wars" cartoon put it when describing their approach to their end of season cliffhangers; "Kill 'em all, let Hasbro sort it out".
