Whenever I think of Aunt May's love life, I'm reminded of Granny from Looney Tunes being chased around by Yosemite Sam and giggling "Nothing like this has happened to me since the boys got back from Gettysburg!"
Your spider-sense is working better than mine because I clicked that link immediately. I suspect the picture supplied is what is actually contained in the Ark of the Covenant; it helps explain why viewing it melted the heads of everyone who saw it..
I saw it for a brief second and clicked it away to the cornfields two seconds later... and that was two seconds too long. Thankfully I didn't scroll down for a full view.
Damn you, cyberghostface. Damn you to cyberghosthell.
Still waiting for the story where we find out that Aunt May is the babysitter who a young Wilson Fisk had the hots for SO BAD!
And that the only reason Norman Osborn sent Harry to that High School was so that he could, every once in a while, catch a glimpse "The one that got away" when she came to walk her nephew Peter home.
Or her little spoken of time as Yes-you-May Reilly, the flippiest flapper of the Prohibition era.
The really awesome part of that arc is when Peter comes home with a bucket of fried chicken and there's Ock on the couch having tea with Aunt May and yes, Otto does partake of chicken as well. Nom.
(This arc also has serious Hammerhead shenanigans and is kind of a little cracky but awesome too.)
No, the one where he was interested in her to get to the nuclear reactor was the marriage arc, which was before this (and also included Hammerhead shenanigans). But it does relate.
IIRC, in the marriage arc, despite the marriage itself not quite going down, the action does move to the nuclear reactor (in CANADA as I recall), and Hammerhead follows because he's a rival crime boss (this was during Ock's big crime boss era, and Kingpin was either out of action or sitting back going 'lol' at all the guys fighting to take his place) and was like 'OCK WANTS SO I DO TOO'. Despite Hammerhead not having any kind of brains to do anything with the place.
Long story short, the place goes kablooey and Hammerhead gets caught in the explosion but DOESN'T DIE. Instead he gets trapped kind of between worlds or something. Kinda like a ghost. Ock escapes too by wrapping his tentacles around himself for protection and washes up on shore somewhere.
Ghost-Hammerhead hunts Ock down and basically starts playing psychological games until Ock more or less has a nervous breakdown and ends up a drunk hobo in the Bowery. And Hammerhead /keeps/ going at it until Ock decides that he's really got to do something and needs help and goes to the one person he feels he can trust: AUNT MAY.
At which point we go to the arc mentioned in the original post here.
(Lord, I know way too much Doc Ock trivia to be healthy, don't I?)
I had to go reread that scene because I barely remember it and goddamn the whole sequence is hysterical. It's not even the dialogue, just the way Andru draws Ock's sheepish body language and expressions as he tries to make peace with Peter.
Also, Ock holding his teacup and napkin with tentacles.
May and Dr Octopus are one of those couples that I've always found kind of cute, but the main thing my attention is drawn to from this scan is that Otto showers with his glasses on. Wut.
I always chalked that down to people who don't have glasses not understanding what people with glasses do (see: people with glasses sleeping in said glasses).
