Back in 1994, Magic: The Gathering was new and shiny and the biggest obsession of geeks nationwide. The industry followed the leader, and a bunch of similar collectible card games (some pretty good) came out. Clearly it was time for a magazine dedicated to the phenomenon.

This issue has rules errata, frequently asked questions, deck building advice...but most importantly from this community's perspective, a comic!
Yep, a revived version of Phil Foglio's "What's New?" feature.

That last panel is fearfully close to reality in some ways....
Phil and Kaja Foglio also did art for several cards back in the day.
Your thoughts, comments, favorite collectible card game story?"

First time I killed someone with an infinite number of grapeshot's while playing extended elfball? Now that's a fun way to play solitaire.
Playing Commander and having infinite life and still losing? So many fun things
1994: Before they played card games with advanced holographic projections & motorcycles.
Date: 2012-07-27 07:02 am (UTC)Never played card games, but I used to collect the cards to stare at the pretty pictures. I remember my friends sifting through their decks obsessively when I would visit them. When Pokemon happened all the veteran card players compared it to Magic.
