In the last OPM week, I posted a couple of Moments dealing with Dick Grayson giving up being Robin (The first iteration of that event, not the one retconned in later when Jason 2.0 was introduced.)
We had Dick telling the Titans and then Dick telling Bruce and Jason
There was a third moment I always meant to post, but never got around to, so will correct that before this OPM is over.
To summarise, this is from the fairly legendary New Teen Titans story, "The Judas Contract". By this point, the Titans have all been captured by Deathstroke, thanks to the duplicity of Terra really being evil. He has learned all their identities and attacked them when they were least expecting it, usually in their own homes.
Perhaps surprisingly (given his history), the only one NOT yet captured was Dick Grayson. Though not then an active member of the Titans because he had no secret ID, he was still their leader, and so Deathstroke still targeted him. Before Slade could defeat him though, Dick managed to escape from him (it involved a third storey window, the subsequent long drop, and sacrificing a leather jacket he was fond of to break his fall).
Anyway, after finding all the other Titans missing, Dick heads back to Titans Tower where he finds two people waiting for him, Slade's ex, Adeline Wilson (In her introduction to the DCU) and her son Joey (ditto). She relates Slade's real history to Dick, who knows the only thing he can do is follow Slade and rescue his friends. But to do that he needs to be someone other than Dick Grayson. So he goes up to his room, and there...

Note that this is a slightly more conservative take on the design than some we'd see. The collar isn't THAT large, and not that much of the chest is exposed, but the foundations are there.
Now, there is a footnote here I want to add. The introduction of Dick's new ID should have been a splash page IMHO, this is a big moment for one of their oldest and most enduring characters. But this IS a Titans book and there was another Titan to introduce in the same issue, so they split the splash in two. I can see the logic for doing so, but was never a fan of the execution of it. So in the interests of fairness, iIf you want to see the full bit, then click on the image above and you'll see the whole thing, but I personally think it distracts from the moment.

Date: 2012-08-12 05:38 pm (UTC)Plus we never DID find out why the name "Jericho" had any meaning. I think I read Marv Wolfman once say that that there WAS an explanation for it, but he never said what it was.

Date: 2012-08-13 07:16 am (UTC)A masked vigilante assisting them, using the name Jericho, was supposed to be unmasked an be shown to be a black kid, but there was an unpleasant... well, let's be generous and say "kerfuffle" amongst the DC higher ups and they insisted the character be made white instead.
A brief summation can be found here

Date: 2012-08-12 06:19 pm (UTC)Although Jason should have kept his own version of the Robin costume. Maybe just wearing Dick's once or twice for symbolic purposes...
I mean, come on, even Vic said to avoid the short pants, but then he dumps it on Jason.

Date: 2012-08-13 07:26 am (UTC)Though as far as Disco-Wings costume go, I prefer the later mullet-wearing one. You know which one, the one that followed, previous to the later awesome blue-Nightwing classic costume.

Date: 2012-08-13 12:03 pm (UTC)Also, not a fan of the Batclan having gliding abilities (Red Robin included) as it's too much like a superpower. The Batropes are just as improbable, but they looked cooler IMHO. (And Dick being able to glide because of those dinky armpit-wing things just never worked)
