Vyndyktvx is screwing with time as he attacks Superman past, present and future. So by the time he's through, Superman will died at the hands of Doomsday.

Meanwhile Superman sent Lois and Jimmy to metropolis hospital to protect Mr Triple X aka Mr Mxyzptlk from Nimrod The Hunter. Who could help Superman in a major way but the only thing is that Vyndyktvx put him in a coma. The Legion of superheroes show up to hep get Mr Mxyzptlk out of his coma. Because they come from a bad future where Superman died and everything turn wrong afterwards like a chain reaction.

well, I'm very pleased they chose to end the cliffhanger on his response rather than the threat

Yes, that's one of the things I really love about how Superman's been written in the New 52--he's got some actual bravado for the first time in what feels like decades. :D

I'm not entirely sure if the being Doomsday still killed Superman, or if the day that Superman died is CALLED Doomsday, due to the fact that the sky started to turn red and all that stuff.

Also, either Morrison or Sholly needs to get on the Legion book NOW.

I really liked the Legion material in this issue, and I think Morrison really has the character of Superman down in a way that few other writers today do, but I didn't really love this issue.
I tend to go through my comic pile pretty quickly on the first read through, except when something really hooks me, so sometimes I can be a very superficial reader on the first go-round, and reading this I was struck by a sense of "Really? That's it?" It felt like This issue was treading water instead of moving forward, which is the exact same problem I had with the introductory arc of this book.
Yeah, some cool stuff happened here, but the fact remains that we ended the previous issue all geared up for a major climactic battle, and then we also ended THIS issue all geared up for a major climactic battle. I didn't really feel like things advanced all that much. This whole issue felt like a miniboss fight.
I'm still pumped to see what's next though, because I really like what Morrison's done with Mxy, managing to make him a cool sort of fairytale character, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing Morrison's pitch perfect premium version of Superman taking on a character that is literally the embodiment of all the unethical business dealings and corporate greed that's haunted that Superman's history. I just really hope that the story moves along a little faster with the next issue.

See, I'm kind-of the opposite right now--#13 and #14, I liked them, but I kinda had the feeling of "what's the point?" Then #15 came in and blew my mind, and this is just a continuation of that. I think it kinda has to do with the sort-of newness to the situation.

Like, I'm feeling the same thing with Batman Incorporated, but I think it has to do with the fact that we've been doing the basic plot idea of "Batman versus Talia leading Leviathan" for about a year now, and things still haven't really changed there.

As much as I like the Princess Projectra of the pre/retroboot, I do have to admit there's a certain awesome charm to a talking snake. :D

Hey, I'm happy to have both of 'em. With an illusion-caster you may never know what she's really like, after all. MWF she's a snooty humanoid princess with a karate boyfriend, TTh and weekends she's a slightly less snooty talking snake princess who's best buds with Cham and can fire a Liefeld gun with her tiny robot arms!

Read Action Comics #13. What they've done with Krypto now is really fucking sweet.

I saw that and it was sweet; it made me tear up. Which makes this just so... unnecessary.

Well, that sets up what we have here--this is Krypto protecting the boy that he's been blood bonded with his entire life, something so powerful not even a group of the Anti-Superman Army could defeat.

Yeah, if a dog can't bear its fangs when trying to protect its lifelong best friend from fiends hellbent on murdering him, when can it bear its fangs?

Yeah really, turning wild and savage like that is completely natural for the situation. He'll be a loveable puppy again once this is all over, I'm sure!

Okay, am I only one who actually likes the way new Krypto looks? Granted, I'm not a huge dog lover (my brother owns two and they are unbelievably hyperactive and annoying), but I think it makes the scenes with him even cuter and visually interesting. He looks so wild, powerful and alien... But still acts like normal dog.

He's a little excessively demon-hell-beast here--though understandably so--but I do like seeing him as a bigger, buffer breed. Pre-Crisis Krypto was often drawn sort of like a white rat with acromegaly. I like that he now looks as impressive compared to the average dog as Superman does compared to the average dude.

OTOH, it was also cool when Krypto was a medium-sized breed but was still kicking ass on Mongul and White Martians anyway, so. As long as he's being drawn by someone who knows what dogs look like I'm happy. (And if I could hire Frank Quitely to draw him for the rest of his life...)

You know, I object to the Doomsday death still being around.

Why? I might not be a fan of the reboot, but one of the things it *should* have going for it is a fresh start. Not focused-on-decades-old-stories-as-major-plot-points.

I don't mind evoking older stuff, remaking it, or so on, but cherrypicking old bits of continuity to keep or remove is IMO a worst of both worlds situation.

The thing is, this actually does feel like a remake/remix of the death story. It's obviously a lot different, since almost none of the characters could/would be around or starting out at that point, but it feels like we're going to find out that his death story came from THIS point in the story, not to some dumb spikey punching bad, but an evil imp from another dimension, who's hellbent on killing Superman at every moment in his life for petty revenge, provided by a being that signifies every horrible, sadistic, fascist idea that Superman could represent.

So, question about the imps like Mxy and Bat-mite and whoever else:

Are they immune to continuity resets? Seems like they would/should be.

So it's come to this: classic characters like Mysterio taking scrub jobs in rival companies to make ends meet. A shame, it is. A damn shame.
