The Super Street Fighter comic just came out (a single big honking volume, unlike it's non-super predecessors), and I thought I'd share some choice bits :)
Sumo Wrestler E. Honda and Turkish Oil Wrestler Hakan have each come to beseech their sport for a spot in the Olympic games. They do this by fighting each other, which somehow manages to impress the committee on both their sports. Well, at least two of the three committee members...

Yes, the SF Official Olympic Wrestling committee is Mike Hagar (US), Zangief (Russia), and Rainbow Mika (Japan)!
But then Suddenly!

Ah, poor El Fuerte, bad timing ^^
Anyway, back over to the main plot. Guile's investigating a secret society, and what little info he has tells him they have interest in a certain Ryu, so he goes to track the fighter once more, heading for his dojo, but he's missing, and instead they find...

Dark Hadou Sakura. Ryu's missing, and his student Sakura's tapped into a dark power.
The plot of the Super Street Fighter comic seems an interesting blend of Street Fighter III and IV stuff, introducing the remaining SFIV characters that they didn't do in the SFIV comic, and bringing the SFIII ones into the fold.
And one more thing this comic has...

Balrog vs Dudley, oh yes!
4.2~ pages from Super Street Fighter vol 1

Date: 2013-02-12 11:58 am (UTC)Seriously. They made me like Ryu! I used to think that Ryu was about as interesting as watching paint dry, but they characterized him as such a sweet guy!
I'm also extremely fond of the Guile-Chun li's friendship. Married dude and woman who is not even remotely interested in romance, they get along fabulously and it never feels forced at all. Chun li made friends with Cammy too, without holding her responsible for the horrible things Cammy did when she was brainwashed; it's great to see them as friends!
Yep. UDON is great :)

Date: 2013-02-13 09:44 pm (UTC)One night, I got into a bar fight and was thrown out into the streets. Slipping into unconsciousness, Bodhidharma appeared to me in a vision and told me I would usher in a new age of peace through kung fu. Some nuns carry me to the orphanage where they work and let me rest there.
I befriend them, and stay at the orphanage, teaching the orphans kung fu, becoming a better man.
But now I must travel the globe, facing any and all challengers, to show the world that my kung fu will guide them into a bright future!
