Kon used his TK to heal himself, or at least stop his own degeneration trying to stop the star chamber for reaching the sun. H'el seems to have more unknown powers since he can take the suit which clark give him off Superboy and put it back on Superman in a instant.

Leading up to the finale of H'el on earth. It's Superman vs H'el and Supergirl vs Wonder woman.

in their efforts to make Kara more than just a female Superman they've really made her a lousy person most of the time. I'd prefer she just be a female Superman I think

Kara's never been just a "female Superman" though. This excessive desire to differentiate the two is... unnecessary. And this crossover has been the most pointless thing ever, seemingly designed just to derail characters left and right. The Supergirl comic was great until this mess started.

Except in this comic it seems more clear that H'el is forcibly manipulating her

Really, she's always been the one in the Superman family who made mistakes and had to amount to them and fix things--it's just now it's on a bigger scale than, say, trying to get a bunch of women from all across time and space to date her cousin or something.

Well, there was this one time she almost destroyed the multiverse by flying really, really fast. That's on a pretty big scale too.

Superdickery runs strong in the House of El, it seems.

As usual, I need only to glimpse at the latest panel to include a character named "Supergirl" before I find myself instinctively thinking "God, but I miss Linda Danvers..."

Definitely! I always hated DC killing her off in COIE but they never really brought her back. Everyone else comes back from the dead, but not Linda!

I never thought she was Superman-Lite. She had a personality of her own and was trying to find her way as to what career she wanted. She adapted well to Earth but I'm sure there could be rich source material as to her yearning for Krypton in ways that Clark can never know since he was just a baby when his rocket was launched. Linda actually has memories of living in Argo City, at least.

Quite true, although I was more thinking of the "Fallen Angel" version of Linda as written by that guy who nobody mentions by name on this board. They tried to bring her back in that godawful (heh) "Reign in Hell" series a few years back, but it ended with her walking around wearing a belt made entirely out of fire, then vanishing...somewhere.

I dunno, the composite-Linda that we saw under the pen of that guy was the most intellectual writing I've ever seen in a Supergirl comic, meditating on good and evil, asking interesting questions about Linda's existence that have only been properly been mirrored in Moore's "Swamp Thing", and actually having a fun, banter-y relationship with Lex Luthor! I miss that.

*sigh* Wow. They really made her an awful, unbearable person. Why is it that every time they go "We need to make Supergirl different from Superman" they come to the conclusion of "by making her AWFUL!"

And yet she still isn't as bad as she was after she was reintroduced by Jeph Loeb...

And is she actually really bad? She's consistently been shown to care about human life; and tried to protect civilians, even though pretty much only Siobhan had been nice to her (the military constantly attacking her was a bit much really). That she's convinced herself that this won't destroy earth doesn't change that. And after what Superboy did during their last meeting... (Seriously, the writers are really doing all they can to make them dislike each other...) Kara trying to talk nicely to Kal, and look who barges in and...

*sigh*

Okay, I know Supergirl's just acting out because she misses her BFF & all, but seriously? Not cool, Kara.

Not. Cool.

Maybe one of H'el's powers is mind control/manipulation and Kara's not actually a terrible person, she's just having her emotions and impulses texaggerated by him? I can hope at least.

I think that was already established--H'El early on beat the crap out of Supergirl, but made her think that it was Superman doing it.

.... was Kara channeling Superboy Prime? In fact, this is closes to Infinite Crisis, where Alex was tricking Prime to do his genocidal dirty work... Wouldn't that make an interesting twist that H'el is Prime.... but then again, Kara shares his beliefs but yet she will be redeem in the end while Prime will be... prime....

Agh, this dialogue.

"H'el says different. Why should I believe you over him? He's kind and gentle and supportive. But you--your entire life is a lie! Your kind was designed to serve, but proved unstable--and you all became mindless killing machines."

Who talks like this? Nobody talks like this.

Yeah, it's fair to say that DeFalco hasn't quite learned how to do the whole modern dialogue in comics thing.

Could be said to be a twist on the fact she learned English instantly via telepathy, and thus has some weird speech patterns...

"And he wouldn't ask me to do... this... if it wasn't the only way to..." after being told that she doesn't really believe H'el's claim that Earth will be fine... Does that mean that she is actually willing to sacrifice Earth for Krypton if it comes to that?

Gee willikers, could they not turn any more of my heroes into genocidal maniacs. Please.
