"The man is demented in more interesting ways than I think Batman ever was. [His] cape is actually a crescent moon and he goes out only at night and dresses in reflective white so you can see him coming. Now that’s nuts... I like that." -- Warren Ellis

One by one, the remaining three perish as well. Then Moon Knight arrives to take down the sniper.

This seems like a Jim Starlin Batman story. Which could be the point.

How do you mean? I associate Starlin with cosmic stuff, but beyond that I guess I couldn't identify any particular characteristics of his writing style. (I'm legitimately curious it's an interesting point)

I love how they did the whole 'panels disappearing one by one' thing. Not sure whether that was the writer's idea or the artists, but it was genius in my opinion.

Agreed. It really made the story engaging and visually distinctive.

This story had a very Noir feel to it. Which works for a street vigilante like Moon Knight.

Pretty damn good. This is definitely convincing me to add Moon Knight to my reading list.

It is really good, and this particular issue is a marvel of layout/storytelling. But I do hope future issues stop feeling as though they're meant as an alternate first one. I want to see more build.

Then again, this is a hard legacy to live up to. Moench and Sienkiewicz set an impossible bar for this character few have ever managed to get near. He's really, really tricky to handle right.

Somehow the deaths in this series bother me a bit (I thought by now I was pretty used to murder in comics…) But the art is great, I'm really loving the whole thing.

Moon Knight's grapple gun thingie must have a hell of a kick. Does he have superstrength currently?

Still no powers as far as I can tell. Just selective brain damage!

Marc Spector is a former soldier of fortune. He's probably borne far worse kicks from far worse weapons.

Oh, I'm sure he can survive the thing. It's the fact that he's running full-tilt, casually firing it from one outstretched hand, when its sheer momentum is enough to turn his opponent into a human wrecking ball. That's like five levels up from dual-wielding rocket launchers.
