...and someone in the Marvel Universe actually wears a sports-bra.

EDIT: This just in an Italian Swimmer had her suit burst open at a swim meet.

So, here we find out Karla's Moonstone creates her costume, from the look of where it emerges from, it seems to work like Flashes old ring on a quantum level...

which is then strange, cause somehow Tigra rips the front wide open causing a full frontal wardrobe malfunction.

and here it is Black Widow (II) working out in the sports bra !

This is a Juneteanah post :)

A chance to air every complaint ever about her costume.

And Carol can return and wonder why everyone's snickering.

I mean, her old costume? I was always thinking: put on some pants or something. It's just dumb. Carol, I'm assuming, is REALLY proud of her legs.

The design is a female version of Captain Marvel's costume, and apparently it's a kree uniform for his particular rank.

So blame the Supreme Intelligence.

Karla's always generated her costume from the moonstone, which forms whatever design she wants over her body. But once it's created it functions as a costume would until she actively orders it back to the moonstone, so Tigra's actions would affect it.

She can also reconfigure it with a thought, as she showed in her Meteorite days when she changed the design a couple of times. It's possible that she wasn't able to focus properly with all the popping flashbulbs around her so had to work with the torn costume.

Duude. That was exactly my comment when the Initiative scene first got posted.
It's been canon since the original Thunderbolts run that she could do that. I can kinda sorta deal with Karla caring for a bunch of mutant babies or suddenly being comically inept for no reason (as in Dark Avengers) instead of being the Bitch Queen I've come to know and love, but that? That just bugged me.

the Moonstone is NOT one of a pair. It's meant to be unique. It just happens that when Franklin Richards created a duplicate Earth a lot of little things like a Moonstone got duplicated as well.

Date: 2009-07-02 08:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] icon_uk.insanejournal.com
Literally, yes it is one of a pair.

If there exists a second Moonstone, and there does, then there are a pair of them. They weren't created as a pair, and are not a matching pair in the sense of designed to be two, but she never said there were, only that there ARE a pair of moonstones, she's possessed both in her time and has one now.

Question (srsly, I wanna know) - why does she have thigh-high boots like from the Lightning Bolt costume in the first scan, and calf-high boots with red trim like the Captain Marvel uniform in the scans with Tigra? (On a related note, why do her POV boxes have lightning bolts when the costume has the Kree star symbol?)

Date: 2009-07-02 03:00 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] neuhallidae.insanejournal.com
Leaving out the possibility of just a lettering-continuity error, it's probably a way to try and prove that she's well and truly taken Carol's place in the book, since Carol's thought boxes had the bolts.

Y'know, I'm surprised you don't see sports bras more often in comics(though they sure show up in mine), even from a totally sexist angle(this is Mr. Smut Comics artist talking now): they keep the breasts firmly in place so you can draw them the same panel to panel, they keep them tight and high and round against the chest, what exactly is not to like from the artist's OR fanboy's POV? It actually does what they want better.

No chest doesn't look good in one. Period. And yet they're also practical and women, like, actually wear them in real life and stuff.

You know it's funny and I know I'm going to sound more like a perv than usual, but I DO recall seeing sports bras in comics, at least more often than when I was in highschool.

I like Karla Sofen.

On the one hand, she's both a brilliant, calculating sociopath who can talk people into killing themselves and a flying brick who can throw down with the best of them.

On the other hand, she wear skimp outfits and has blond hair.

No matter where you go, you get to the winner's circle. I cannot believe I'd never heard of her...or bothered to Google "Moonstone" anyway...before her time in Ms. Marvel. Wow, was I missing out.
