Well.

This is as probably as good a redemption as we'll get for Felicia. It makes no sense considering *how* evil she got. (Like, I'm pretty sure she killed people. They really shouldn't let her walk that back with an 'oops'.) But that said, "Spider-Man's mind wipe traumatized me into being bonkers" is a pretty good excuse as far as comic book excuses go.

Honestly, this is a status quo I'm happy to see restored, and a wrong (Peter wiping his identity from an ex-girlfriend) I'm glad to see righted... so I think we can let this one go.

Wonder if Miles will be as forgiving as Pete, though.

yeah, and I like that they didn't make it about her still having a crush on him. But they were important to one another once.

There were various stories where Peter would trust Felicia to protect Mary Jane. (Maximum Carnage and others.) Which shows Peter and Felicia's importance to each other goes beyond any social awkwardness.

I'm happy for every single garbage issue of that worthless trash that Dan Slott wrote to be forgotten forever. His treatment of Felicia was one of the worst things about a run that was absolutely abysmal, tedious and laughably awful in general and ranks, in my opinion, as being the single worst run on the Spider-Man book in the characters history. I would rather read the absolute WORST story of the Clone Saga than read the "Best" issue of Dan Slott's run on the book

And it was pretty clear that his treatment of Felicia was just a manifestation of his pathetic misogyny against the character

Given that the Black Cat is one of my favourite heroes in the entire Marvel universe I'm very glad that everything Slott inflicted on the character with his crappy story arc he ripped off from DC has been undone and she's back to being the enjoyable character she used to be

And it gives me no small amount of schadenfreude to think about how much Slott must HATE that his crappy treatment of the character got completely undone and she's now got her own ongoing

Is interesting given the bit of how Felicia loved Spidey but couldn't stand Peter. But this is a good way to redeem the terrible stuff Slott did to her.

I don't think Slott is 100% to blame there..

From what I've heard Black Cat going evil was an edict from on high.

Which I can readily believe, given the timing of it. As her descent in outright villainy seemed to coincidentally occur right about the time a Felicia Hardy popped up in Amazing Spider-man 2. Almost as if Marvel decided to sabotage her as a potential heroine spinoff for the Sony movies, by having her cross those lines in the books. Much like their exceedingly petty 'lets downplay the Fantastic Four and X-men.'

Between this and the FF, Wolverine and Cyclops coming back, I really hope this is a sign of Marvel trying to course correct the damage they've been doing to their own characters over the last few years. Fingers crossed anyway..

Hmm...hadn't known that but does make sense. Hardly the first time a writer's gotten the blame for what was an editorial edict.

You can't really blame Marvel though. Comics is no longer their main moneymaker, and hasn't been for some time. Now comics are just promotional material for their movies and TV shows, and it didn't make sense for them to spend money to promote properties from they can't make a profit on movie and TV revenue.

That's no excuse for banking hard in the other direction. They could well have sapped some cash off the free promotion given by the movies.

Ok that was beautiful.

Damn near brought a tear to my eye..

I wanted to mention CIVIL WAR and Spider-Man's actions on this board. Because I think the "hook" was both times Peter made decisions AGAINST his responsibilty to Aunt May and Mary Jane.

At least part of Peter keeping his identity secret was to protect May and MJ. Mixed with "May would drop dead that instant if she ever found out because reasons." But in CIVIL WAR...

1. The unmasking. That happened because 600 people were killed in Stanford. Peter put the death of 600 strangers against May and Mary Jane, even though BOTH of them told him to unmask.

2. Leaving Tony Stark's side and hiding May and MJ in a motel. Again, Peter put strangers ahead of May and Mary Jane. In this case, the strangers were the heroes imprisoned in the Negative Zone. That was why Spider-Man switched sides.

So twice Peter put strangers ahead of Aunt May and MJ, and that resulted in Aunt May getting shot. And ONE MORE DAY. That would make Peter a little more hesitant about revealing his identity.

"Ooh, good cat reference."
"I mean, I'm no Gambit, but--"
"Wellll, I'd kinda told a few billion too many people my secret identity--"

Spidey for the love of J. Jonah Jameson please stop cracking wise and let Felicia talk it out, okay?

The ending panel is really sweet, though.

Speaking of Gambit, I was disappointed that a card-carrying Thieves' Guild member like Remy didn't make an appearance.
