Witchblade Animated

The first thing that I picked up was the Witchblade Animated issue, but the late Darwyn Cooke and Paul Dini. Somebody pointed it my way because it's got The Magdalena in it.
For those of you unfamiliar with her, The Magdalena is the descendant of Mary Magdalene and Christ, and is armed with the spear that pierced Christ's side. She's a legacy, working for the Catholic Church, and there have been generations of Magdalenas. I would love to read a book about the medieval Magdalena, like Lake of Fire, but I don't see it happening.
I'm moderately intrigued by her new series, though I'm not enjoying it as much as ( Vol.3 )
