Krypto vs. Atlas!

This is from Superman #679-680. It's written by  James Robinson and  illustrated by Renato Guedes.

At the end of #679, Atlas (working with someone later to be revealed as Sam Lane) has challenged and defeated Superman.








Before you go any further, you should read the first few pages of Krypto's battle with Atlas over here.




The energy hitting Krypto is something that weakens Kryptonians.







Superman runs off and gets Zachary Zatara to give him some magical protection, and then he returns and finishes off Atlas. Everyone starts cheering for him.

but do dogs really think like that? and why is Lois down on Krypto :(

Knowing what I do about dog training (just an experienced amatuer) I would expect more thoughts in the beginning to be about "pack" and "territory". But if a dog attacks you, I don't think there is much else going through its head than "Hurt Him! Bite!" Having broken up a couple dog fights in my day, I would imagine the hardest thing about training attack dogs is get them to stop on command and get them out of that attack mode.

It's the closest to how a human could understand it. Wittgenstein once said that even if a dog (or any animal) could talk, it doesn't mean its thoughts would be in any way comprehensible to us. Besides LW's point that dogs simply have too alien a frame of reference, there's also the amount of a dog's world, the dimensions to their perception(considering their senses of smell, hearing and sight), that simply could not be expressed accurately in words.

Lois was down on him because of what he is: a being with all of Superman's powers but without a human mind or conscience to guide him. Think of the times your own dog just gets scared or pissed off and might bite you. Now imagine him with heat vision that can liquify the Washington Monument.

Krypto IS a good boy.

Until the day comes when you get between him and his bowl or something he wants.
