In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like.

Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.

The intent of these posts is to chat and have some fun and, sure, vent a little as required. Reasoned debate is fine, as always, but if you have to ask if something is going over the line, think carefully before posting please.

Normal board rules about conduct and behaviour still apply, of course.

It's been suggested that, if discussing spoilers for recent media events, it might be advisable to consider using the rot13 method to prevent other members seeing spoilers in passing.

The world situation is the world situation. If you're following the news, you know it as much as I do, if you're not, then there are better sources than me.

Former President Trump was convicted on all 34 fraud charges he was facing in New York and will be sentenced in July.

The UK election lurches on, with the Right Wing of the Conservative party coming up with nastier and nastier plans (including further emphasis on "biological gender"), and Nigel Farage back on the political scene.

Doctor Who delivered "Dot and Bubble" this week, a story about shallow media obsession and giant carnivorous slugs before... well, that would definitely be in the "spoilers" territory. Props to Callie Cook for negotiating the tricky path of making self-obsessed, vapid, Lindy Pepper-Bean a surprisingly engaging lead. In 2010, after a couple reboots and continuations not written by Larry Hama, IDW Publishing got the GI Joe license and began publishing a continuation of "A Real American Hero" picking up exactly where Hama's last issue had left off, 155. The first issue, 155 1/2, returns to the same status quo that was left when the old comic ended in 1994: multiple heroic characters brainwashed into fighting for Cobra, while GI Joe themselves have been shut down. No one seems to have aged in the fifteen year interim, so we are decidedly in Marvel Time here, even with IDW doing the publishing honors.
