A couple weeks ago I received a pretty great Christmas package from Mitch Ballard, including one commission and a surprise present (I found that incredibly generous). :)
The present was his take on the (rather famous) image from George Perez, showing Dick Grayson's way from Robin to Nightwing (unfortunately, I can't find a scan from the original image on my pc at the moment, sorry). Anyway, he replaced DiscoWing with the 'modern' Nightwing.

As for the commission... last year I started a new theme: Robin The Boy Hostage pieces based on old (but brilliant!) covers from the Hardy Boys novels (
icon_uk posted a lot of them here). Up to now, I got one commission from Mitch and one from Greg Kirkpatrick, which I hadn't posted yet, and I'm pretty happy with both of them! :)
Based on the 'Mystery of the Melted Coins' novel:

A~and one of my favourites (speaking of the covers, not the novels themselves), the 'Mystery of the Whale Tattoo':

I apologize for the bad image quality here... I couldn't use my scanner and had to use a photo instead. What I really love about this one is Greg's idea to replace the crowd with Teen Titans members. The image is probably too blurred, but there are Golden Eagle, Bumbleebee, Hawk & Dove, Flamebird, Mal Duncan, Aqualad, Speedy, Aquagirl, Wonder Girl, Starfire, Changeling, Cyborg, Raven and Kid Flash around the Ferris Wheel.
And for legality:

Date: 2011-01-22 07:20 pm (UTC)I really need to get a copy of SO 50... maybe in three weeks, when I'll actually have a bit time for some reading again (so looking forward to that).
Btw, did you get the DW message I sent you a couple weeks ago?

Honestly, Some of the descriptions of their adventures are the sort of thing which would usually only expect to see in plain brown wrappers, being sold from underneath the counters of certain specialist bookstores.
