J&H is a terrible comic. But a GLORIOUSLY terrible comic. I'm working on a review of that. It's so bad! And yet, the big "drive swaths of Gotham irreversibly insane" plan was actually handled better/more sensibly there. Seriously, no children should be driven as insane as James Jr. because of the drugs! Medication does not work that way! I get what you're trying to do, Snyder, and gold star for effort, but fail!
I also hated the reveal of James Jr's true nature, with the old childhood "friend." That whole thing should have been cut out, so you could have kept the mounting tension and dread through the Joker, and the key, and Barbara, and finally Babs in the watchtower. All the tension was kneecapped for me in that sloppy, crass, pointlessly graphic reveal, which had all the emotional impact of a wet sock being dropped.
Hmmm actually, I liked the "old friend scene" it was graphic yes... But imho it was graphic done right. It was a major WTF moment that worked.... Though... The scene with barbara sr could have worked too... But I liked the fact that the audience knew before everyone else (except barbara jr that is)
