This is one of those good ol' fashioned "misleading covers" in that nothing remotely like it happens in the issue.

Last issue, Brainiac took Earth as his new body. Now it's one week later...

Well, I guess we know why Wonder Woman isn't around anymore.

On an unrelated note, I really love this Flash every time I see her. Though that passage in her diary could have been worded better, since on my initial reading it sounded like the Justice League only saved their own families.

Which is weird, as I'm sure she's mentioned in the post-Batman Beyond JLU episode Epilogue. She'd also be the same age as she was in JLU, technically, as the DCAU version of Wonder Woman is immortal too...

...So technically she'd still be around when the Legion are about to. Weird.

Brainiac...Nth metal...Themyscira...it's like they're chucking various bits of the DCU into a blender and presenting the end result.

Wonder where this goes, though.

I rather like the seemingly random elements coming into play, I like glimpses of the bigger world which has it's own stories we're just not hearing about at the moment.

Amethyst being able to use Kryptonian crystals is a neat idea (and in the pre-Crisis continuity Gemworlders did have a bit of an affinity with Jewel Kryptonite)

It makes more sense in context. Basically, stealing Nth metal is the first thing that Braniac's did

Personally, I feel that if you're going to play with the future of the entire DCAU, you might as well use all of it.

Unfortunate placement on the background images on the cover do rather make him look like Zod has got pointy elf ears.

Fem!Flash and Captain Marvel... I can dig it!
But it's got to be a bit awkward considering this Captain Marvel seems to be a combination of the Marvel family who can switch back and forth between its members at will. Then again, this Flash got the previous Flashes in her head too, so maybe it's a perfect match.

Just so long as Captain Marvel doesn't scream out "Shazam!" during sex.

Although for humor value it would be nice to read a three-way between Flash, Captain Marvel, and Terry in the suit.

Flash and Captain Marvel? That's a relationship with a buttload of backseat drivers, given that Danica has access to everyone who's been absorbed into the Speed Force, while Billy has six Greek deities and one Hebrew king in his head PLUS Teth-Adam, Mary, Freddy and Shazam (and possibly Osiris too if he existed in this continuity).

Solomon: The way to a woman's heart, Billy, is to send her lover away to die in a war, so you can sleep with her without feeling guilty for banging your best friend's girl!

Billy: That's terrible advice!

Solomon: And the archetypical example of a wise king is who exactly?

I thought that was King David's shtick. Solomon was more the "marry all the women and write some erotic poetry" sort.

Yeah, I think you're right. Oops.

Still, Billy could enslave a demon to build things for him, that's something Solomon did. :)

The scans I've been seeing of this series are looking pretty enjoyable. I was not a fan of what I saw of the Batman Beyond comic under Beechen, but this looks closer to the concept of the source material.

What's the general consensus? Worth picking up? I like the fact that it's mostly self-contained, universe-wise. It lets them have higher stakes and not worry about events and such.

There are good elements in the Beechen run, but it gets better once he left. If only because he wasn't randomly killing off Terry's rogues gallery to make Hush II look cool (including a reoccuring friend of Terry in addition to his mum and his stepdad, due to his stepdad having briefly been a nonlethal supervillain... oddly Terry doesn't seem that cut up about it though).

Beechen's run is weird. It's like he's seen enough to know who the characters are, but outright contradicts things if it serves the story. Such as both referencing and contradicting the events of Return of the Joker, for example.

And most of said Rogues Gallery came back with as little fanfare and explanation as they were killed off with in the first place.

Honestly, I've found all of the Beyond Digital line interesting, if a little lacking. Basically, there's never any breathing room in which to process what changes have been done to the status quo. While I'm sure there will be some comments on the world having recently been freed from Braniac's control in the next arc, I'm sure it's gonna rush just as head long into another story without so much as a date scene between Danica and Captain Marvel.

EDIT: basically, the narrative has some definite flaws, but the world-building especially in the Justice League title more than makes up for it.
