"I’ll say this, Thunderbird has a unique dynamic with some of the biggest icons of Krakoa. In his early appearances, he thought Wolverine was a soft punk, and couldn’t be bothered to respect an uptight ass-kisser like Cyclops (John’s POV, not mine). Now, while he was gone, Cyclops and Wolverine have become foundational to Krakoa. Thunderbird to me, as an emotional hook, really has a singular point of view on some of Krakoa’s greatest. And he does not care what anyone thinks." - Steve Orlando

"It’s those brief but potent appearances that interested me in comics lore back in the ancient times when I was buying my first books at flea markets and off spinner racks. Every character’s got potential, and when we can drop these hidden gems in as fascinators, when we intrigue and include, I think it only enriches the story."

"They are kind of the circle of the Venn diagram of my interests, storywise: headstrong teens/young adults, the potential for horror/heavy stories, found family dynamics, and a true variety of characters (in terms of gender, ethnicity, orientation, etc.). A gold mine from the jump!"
-- Vita Ayala

Since the X-Men finally got around to bringing back Irene Adler, AKA Destiny, I thought I would repost X-FORCE #-1. It has a brief look at Destiny and Mystique were up to before they adopted Rogue. (Or after.) As well as a carnival where a LOT of future heroes and villains were on one fine day.

In 1997 Marvel did FLASHBACK month, where almost all their issues were set a year (or more) before the rocket flight that created the Fantastic Four. In X-FORCE #-1, John and James Proudstar head to a local carnival.

Marvel has announced a second "Marvel Voices" title in November, after their first one focussing on writers and characters of colour back in February this year... which seems a LOT longer than six months ago...

This one is "Indigenous Voices", and will do the same for Indigenous creators and characters

I don't know if I'd say that Storm is my favorite female character (mostly because I'm not sure I'd say I have "favorites" per se) but she's certainly up there. And since there were requests for Storm scans, I'm going to share some scans of her very earliest appearances, so you can know she was awesome from the very beginning. I'll also be interspersing it with other scans from the same issues that amuse me.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, in 1997 Marvel did FLASHBACK month, where almost all their issues were set a year (or more) before the rocket flight that created the Fantastic Four. In X-FORCE #-1, John and James Proudstar head to a local carnival. But they aren't the only familiar faces at said carnival.
