A little late to this party, but here it is, my favorite Elseworlds universe, the Earth of Justice League: The Nail and Another Nail.

Why?  I hear you ask.  Could it be the stellar Alan Davis art?  The cosmic drama?  The unique slant on Superman's origins?  The weird mix of Silver Age wonder and 80s X-Men era anti-metahuman paranoia?

Or could it be that this story arc did the impossible and made one of DC's most awesome couples even more awesome?

Last issue I thought was awesome with the return of the Green Scar!

The title is changed to "Incredible Hulks" with this one as they have become a family at the conclusion of #611 (touching).

Well, the prodigal son known as Hiro-Kala is returning home and he wants to take out his father and brother!

I wish Pelletier was doing these but at least he returns on the Chaos War tie-ins.

Here's preview via Cosmic Book News:

In the Big Two there are exciting places to visit where the daring take their lives in their hands each time they step outside the door.

DC has Gotham.

Marvel has Madripoor

Welcome to scenic Madripoor. )

So today Day 12: Comic Location You’d Most Like to Visit? And that could mean Gotham, Star City, Themysicra, Utopia, Prof. Charles Mansion, etc., whatever/wherever your heart desires.

I can tell you I wouldn't want to vacation in Gotham... )

This is one that seldom gets mentioned but it's also been one of my favorite places in the DCU, though it's also one of the lesser-explored ones. I present to you.....Azarath.

At least one image of it for legality.

cut for size )

I've always been curious as to why they never did a simple mini on Azarath itself as opposed to Raven's connection to it.

My god. Do you know how much GRIEF would be allieved if Gotham had one of these?

*warning* Some refined, sensible crack behind the cut.

Drink up me hearties. )

Here are some scans from Captain America #367. It's set during the Acts of Vengeance cross-over.

A cabal of super-villains have been working together but did Skull really think that Magneto had forgotten the past?

Chris Claremont wrote a 4-part DC Elseworlds story "Superman/Wonder Woman: Whom Gods Destroy." It starts with a simple enough concept: Superman debuted in 1938, hasn't aged, and there are no other superheroes. Claremont added "The Nazis won WWII since America never got involved." In the modern day, the Greek gods are trying to become "involved" in the lives of mortals. It isn't my all-time favorite Elseworlds, due to all the crack mixed with historical tragedies, but it has interesting elements.

Four scans from Spitfire #1, a one-shot by Paul Cornell.  This came out a couple of weeks ago, but I was separated from my scanner at the time.

The DCUBlog has two covers and five pages from the forthcoming Knight and Squire series by Paul Cornell and Jimmy Broxton

There's a pub in London where the first Thursday of the month is "Truce Night", where superbeings can gather but NO ONE can fight. Think somewhere between the "Common Grounds" coffee and danish chain, Caritas, the Host's nightclub in "Angel", and "No Heroics" a short lived UK sitcom about a pub where similar rules apply.

So many stereotypes, so many jokes... )
