"My favorite villain stories in the X-Men universe are the ones where they remain villains, but for reasons of expediency, or something else, they decide to work on the right side for a little while but everyone knows this truce isn’t going to last. I like that tension quite a bit. So I’ve enjoyed the Krakoa era, in part, because it’s never been hidden that the villains remain villains. They haven’t had a change of heart, if anything it’s the heroes who have to do the most changing." - Victor LaValle

NS: The Batman non-spoiler discussion

Steadfast chaning of the seasons,
As most probably are aware, the new Batman movie, The Batman, is coming to wide release this weekend and they already had the first showings of it. I managed to see it today, time zones are for the win sometimes, and walked out of the theater with so many thoughts. As I'm a deeply self-centered person, I naturally wanted to shout them to the world. which is a problem as the movie isn't even in wide circulation yet.
Thus, I thought that I would make a completely spoiler-free post here touching on some general thoughts first. And then, in the weekend if someone hasn't already made a discusison post about the movie, do a separate spoiler discussion post. Is this necessary? Probably not and I don't expect there to be many comments here, but man do I sitll want to talk about this film. Even though, and I reiterate this, I'm not going to spoil anything, I'll still put the comments beneath the cut to spare the good readers of this site of any more of my yammering.
( Long explanations without details behind here )

The Marvels #8 - "Almost Positive"

I think the Cockrum Ms. Marvel/Warbird costume is one of the best superhero costumes ever, though later artists liked to draw her breasts and butt slipping out of it, which was not remotely appropriate to the character. It doesn’t really fit who she is now though, so if I were writing CAPTAIN MARVEL these days, I’d introduce a new character in that costume, or something substantially like it. -- Kurt Busiek
