In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like.

Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.

The intent of these posts is to chat and have some fun and, sure, vent a little as required. Reasoned debate is fine, as always, but if you have to ask if something is going over the line, think carefully before posting please.

Normal board rules about conduct and behaviour still apply, of course.

It's been suggested that, if discussing spoilers for recent media events, it might be advisable to consider using the rot13 method to prevent other members seeing spoilers in passing.

The world situation is the world situation. If you're following the news, you know it as much as I do, if you're not, then there are better sources than me.

That being said, yesterday was... a lot, and none of it in a good way. If you avoided the media coverage of the Inauguration of POTUS 47 then I don't think anyone would blame you, but the world is going to be dealing with the ramifications for a very, very long time.

Rather than go into a rant though, I will offer a shout-out to the behind the scenes government folk who apparently put in a LOT of overtime to get passports with people's correct genders out to them before the new regime arrived. Such people are to be lauded.

(I did mention a specific post regarding the Neil Gaiman situation was going to be created, and my apologies for not having sorted that out yet, it will come soon)

Jay and Miles "Giant Size Special" episode covers the short lived Warlock (as in "former New Mutant", not "Cosmic soul-gem weirdness") series from 1999 and the very short lived M-Tech subline.

Just found the free "Into the Tardis" podcast, which legally streamed sample stories from Big Finish. And, by way of that, a happy 91st birthday to Tom Baker, as of yesterday.

The Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist Jules Feiffer has died at age 95.

Born January 26, 1929 in New York City, Feiffer got his start at age 17 as an assistant to another legend, Will Eisner, where he helped with iconic comics like The Spirit. However, his career really got a big bump up in 1956 when his strip Feiffer was first printed in the Village Voice, where it ran until 1997. Among other publications, Feiffer was published in the New York Times, where he pioneered the paper’s first op-ed comic strip.

This annual's new character wasn’t a token effort. Fabian Nicieza built a whole story arc around them before concluding the story in the annual. Most other writers did it the other way around, introducing the characters in the annual then shoehorning them in to the main series.

This issue has no Squire or Noreen, so boo in someways. On the other hand, your favourite character not showing up in this series can sometimes be seen as a blessing! For example, Countess Robot X does appear, and so does The Will...

I don’t know if Spider-Man needed another reptile-themed villain. The Lizard is fine on his own. Stregron is different because he is a dinosaur-man. Now we have the Iguana, who is an evolved lizard as apposed to a man with reptile powers.
