Recent concerns about grocery supply-chain disruptions and hoarding made me think of my high school history lessons about World War II food rationing. That in turn reminded me of one of my favourite EC stories, not the least because its title is one of their cleverest puns (the other being "Horror We? How's Bayou?").

I haven't been posting much EC due to Nailbiter this year so here's an old classic. It's from the black and white Fantagraphics series but I think this one works better without color.

There Was an Old Woman!
Jun. 5th, 2015 09:54 pmcyberghostfaceHere's another Ray Bradbury story that EC adapted. For those who don't know, the story of their partnership is pretty interesting; it originally started with EC ripping off his stories without Bradbury's permission. Bradbury sent them the following letter.
“Just a note to remind you of an oversight. You have not as yet sent on the check for $50.00 to cover the use of secondary rights on my two stories ‘The Rocket Man’ and ‘Kaleidoscope.’ . . . I feel this was probably overlooked in the general confusion of office work, and look forward to your payment in the near future.”
EC complied and after this Bradbury lent his stories for authorized adaptations of his work.

EC editor Al Feldstein died early this month last year so to remember him here is a story he wrote and illustrated from Tales from the Crypt #22.
