Mythapalooza (Volume IV), Part 2

Continuing on with Thor: Defining Moments, the finale to JMS' run, and Wonder Woman #38.

 

In Thor, JMS has decided to take his ball and go home, so the finale here bring a certain amount of immediate...well, I wouldn't call it closure per se, it's a turning point for the characters that the next guy will have to go down.  Bill's dead, Kelda flips out and vows to kill Loki (though, er, based on the preview for #604, she's not going to get very far with that); Balder and the loyals realize just how far up the creek they are, and resolve to deal first with Loki and then with Doom.  And Doom's not-Doombots arrive to toast Donald Blake; however, Sif hears their approach, and she and the Warriors Three run interference while Blake tries to find his stick.






And not a moment too soon, Thor; you might have lost her otherwise.

Also, too much information.

Oh, and one of the Doombots wounds Blake, damaging his spine, so now he actually needs the cane again; he muses on this being poetic.

Over in Wondy, Diana's moping around waiting to be executed to save mom.  Artemis, Donna, and the Bana crew think this is BS, and so plot to stop the execution.  The Gargareans, for their part, don't like it either, but Alkyone's the queen now.




It wasn't Diana, apparently, it was another Amazon.  Diana and Achilles show up to kick some ass.




She was pretty sure she killed him.

On an earlier page not posted here the Circle bitches did some kind of ritual with a sword, their blood, and stabbities to the little totem Ares gave Alkyone with the soul of Genocide. That's what made them all red-eyed and superstrong, and I'd guess that's where the bargain with the Cottus came about.

Speaking of which, where is his family?

One of my main problems with the JMS Thor run is how uninterested he seemed to be in really exploring the return of the Asgardians. He took an inordinate amount of time plonking the city down, then brought back Heimdall and the WT, then everybody just sort of got dropped in and there was no further explanation or exploration. Not to mention everybody who wasn't an Asgardian; it's been left to other writers to shed any light on that.

Why does JMS's run have to end? Sure it has it's flaws but it is much better than alot of stuff being published right noe.
