Well, that's nice and all, but I was mainly caught by the cover, where Clint Langley pays tribute to his own GotG covers from years ago:

And sure, inside there were some cool surprises, like Chuffin' Billy, the steampunk automaton, and a Saxons-meet-an-alien story written and illustrated by Alan "Hey, I remember that art style from Fighting Fantasy" Langford, but...
But...
Once I recognised the speech patterns - the weird accents, ellipses leading between panels, Furman-isms a-gogo - and saw that most of the stories did not credit the author, it was clear that the reason to 'read in order' is becuase most of the tales - not all, just most - are really one iunterconnected story by Simon Furman.
And they culminate in a tale that re-unites the authir not only with his Dragon's Claws (and Transformers, and Death's Head) artist Geoff Senior, but the entire team, original Dragon's Claws letterer Richard Starkings and original Dragon's Claws colourist Steve White!
It's all very Dragon's Claws. The nineties never ended, very little makes sense, but Senior's art is always a treat:
