It's how I found She Could Fly. It's how I found Euthanauts and Self Made. And this week, it's how I found Strange Skies over East Berlin.. It makes me think a bit of Lake of Fire as it takes one genre/period and mashes it up with something that doesn't belong there.
I've not watched a lot of Cold War films (some Harry Palmer and the thrillingly violent Atomic Blonde being the limits), so I'm not numb to the conventions. And over a week exploring the city I've barely scratched the surface of what Berlin has to offer, so this was always going to be a nice way to get some culture/history in me.
Its by the author of Judas, which was well received here, if I remember correctly

"The last version of this line I turned in began with 'Admit it, /co/.' I wanted to give their Gwenpool support a special shoutout. I really did. Another version was like 'Hey, /co/--my nipples don't look like that! But I appreciate your enthusiasm!'" -- Leah Williams

I probably won't be posting much in the way of the usual EC or Junji Ito this month (unless there any specific requests) due to other plans. To make up for it I decided to share this one again as I think it's one of Ito's creepier underrated stories.

Are you aware of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace? Cult 00s British comedy about a writer's 1980s hospital-set horror show, framed with 00s-period talking heads. Coiner of memorable phrases such as "I've met writers who use subtext and they're all cowards." Also, too close to home for almost everyone I know in this biz. We're all one bad day away from being Garth Marenghi. Chuck had his bad days a long time ago, and he's lost in his personal Darkplace. -- Kieron Gillen
