(#2'd been in the '80s.)
It was right after Fantastic Four #349, in which Spidey'd been part of the " New Fantastic Four " with the Hulk, Wolverine, and the Ghost Rider (Danny Ketch, possessed by his ancestor Noble Kale).
They'd been brought together by Sue Richards, who'd represented herself as the only surviving member of the original Four, seeking justice for the deaths of the others at the hands of " assassins ".
" Sue " was actually the renegade Skrull De'Lila, manipulating the New and Old Fantastic Four with her cunning and telepathic talents.
Her plans came to a head at Monster Island, where they were complicated by the Mole Man and some other Skrulls who wanted to bring her to the Empire's justice.
Ultimately, they were foiled.
In their aftermath, the real Sue explained them to the Mole Man.
( He wasn't happy about what the works of the Skrulls- De'Lila's objective, the methods of her pursuers- had done to part of his domain. )
