icon_ukJames Gunn (So you know it's official) has announced to Deadline that a new DCU film project is upcoming "Dynamic Duo", which will focus on Dick Grayson and Jason Todd.
Variety further report that: "..the story will be separate from Reeves’ ongoing Gotham-verse with “The Batman” and “The Penguin.” Instead, it will depict how the friendship between Grayson and Todd as youths becomes tested by their diverging ideas for what their future should be. (Reports that the characters will begin as a pair of thieves in the film were false.)
Makes me wonder if this will be a flashback heavy story showing how their very different experiences as Robin led Dick to become Nightwing and Jason to become Red Hood.
It will also not be a live action movie, but a form of puppetry/animation: Swaybox uses a technology known as “Momo animation,” which is a cross between CGI animation, practical elements of stop-motion, and live-action real-time performance. The result is long-form storytelling billed as visually breathtaking, dynamically expressive and more human.
Well that would certainly address the instant challenges of the more acrobatic style of fighting as Robin, which would be hard for the live action genre to keep up with, I suspect.
